If that had have happen today, Jesus would be considered a punk.

The answer to your question is that Jesus was a real person. Messenger of God who had performed all those miracles by the power of God Almighty.

The history which tells us that Jesus die on the cross is a myth created to attract the masses. Jesus lived and die a natural death. There is lot of research on Jesus is going on and this will be proved sometime in future.

Avoid insulting Jesus as he was a true servant of God Almighty.

Being a self proclaimed athiest you find yourself in a quandry...you claim to have no belief in God but yet you ask spiritual questions...the problem with that is no matter how intelligegent an answer one can give you, you will disregard it because afterall, you are an athiest. So why even ask spiritual questions in the first place? Unless of course, there is an element of doubt in your mind that life indeed is bigger than your limited human brain can comprehend. In that case quit calling yourself an athiest and just say you don't understand the concept of God.

Jesus' physical torture was part of His being punished for our sins, in our place. To some extent, this is likely the case. At the same time, the torture Jesus underwent speaks more of the hatred and cruelty of humanity than it does of God's punishment for sin. Satan's absolute hatred of God and Jesus was surely a part of the motivation behind the relentless torture and abuse. Jesus' suffering is the ultimate example of how sinful man feels toward a holy God (Romans 3:10-18).

Actually, the method of his dying fulfilled prophecy - necessarily.

A real man has the strength to stand up to something. It takes the strength of a real man to take that treatment. It is the punk who is driven by pride and rage, letting go all his anger without restraint. Proverbs 25:28 "As a city broken through, without a wall, is the man that has no restraint for his spirit."

You can say what you want, and continue to think along the lines you do now if you wish.
But historical writings, even those of the Jews, do not deny that He was a real, living, breathing human being while walking this earth in human form.

I agree with you. Nobody can take our sins away in any manner. And if he does, how can it continue taking our sins away till today? Each of us have our own accounts to settle.

So, Jesus is just a human with some inspirations from God to guide mankind to the right path.

Not real any of it. Jesus is simply a story stolen from ealier myths--like Krishna--and embellished over the centuries.

Didn't you follow the latest story about Judas? Now they're saying Jesus allowed himself to be killed because he wanted to escape from his human body.

Not that I necessarily believe this, but it's a plausible story.

Nice question.....why on earth would you ask this question other than to piss people off? Athiest or not what ever happened to being a decent person? A hint... decent people do not go out of their way to piss others off.

It was about human's freedom of choice - something that God thinks is extremely important. It partly answers the questions "how far will people go if given freedom to choose?" and "How far is God willing to go to allow freedom of choice?"
