Thank you so much for your service. We are proud of you too.
Nothing anyone can say to explain how ignorant, ungrateful, and unpatriotic some in this country have become can ease that little sting you feel every time you hear them rant. It will take
coming to an understanding of the forces at work here and realizing that there is another war under the surface. You've already seen firsthand that the facts don't play into it. These people manufacture their own facts to suit their purposes. Just know that there are many Americans who are deeply grateful for what you have done. God bless you and good luck in the future.

I support our president 100% and always will. These soldiers are not risking there lives for no reason. They are still in Iraq, Baghdad, Afghanistan, etc. to ensure the safety of this country and all of those that live in it. I understand some people are not going to agree. However, think in the long run that your children and there children will be safer because of it. I don't want another terrorist coming to our home land, spitting on it and having a celebration in there homeland while they trample our flag and laugh. I hope President Bush and his comrads continue to do there thing and I thank each and every soldier that chose to join a branch of the service to protect us. My brother in law is over there now, and yes I worry about him as does the rest of the family but we are also so unbelievably proud of him, because he is there to protect us. We all have a right to our own opinion.

I personally do not support the war because I do not believe that the US should have invaded and killed many people, both civillians and our own troops, under the guise of defeating terrorism. The Bush administration has lied to us Americans many times and appears to be in it only for the oil and for political reasons. It is not that I am uninformed or ignorant, though many others who dis the war are, as I seek all the unbiased, informative news I can get. I just disapprove of the war because there is too much bad for not enough good.
I am not saying, either, that I do not support the troops or the good things you (collectively) have done. I respect you for being so brave and doing good for others, like building schools and bridges. That's all great.
Best wishes to you, and I hope that you stay safe should you redeploy.

Thank you for your service.
First, let's just dispense with the notion that if you don't support the war you are somehow unpatriotic. That's just BS and I think we all know that.
Second - there are a great many soldiers and returning vets who feel the way we do. They serve because it's their duty and they love their country, but they do not feel our presence in Iraq is justified or morally acceptable. A handful of them are now running for Congress and I hope to God they get elected.
Third - There was NO DISSENT, none whatsoever, when it came to deploying our forces in Afghanistan. There is still no dissent. You will not hear one person say we don't belong there.
We are frustrated and angry because people we love have been sent to die in a country that was not and is not a threat to us. Period. OBL was allowed to escape and many of us feel that would not have happened if our military strength had been fully focused on Afghanistan, rather than diverting troops into Iraq.
And I just want to ask that all the people who want to label dems as "not supporting our troops" take some time to research your legislation. It has primarily been Dems who have put forth legislation and fought for health care for veterans and their families. It is Dems who want psychological support for vets suffering form PTSD. Republican have CUT FUNDING, and voted against such support. Who then is unpatriotic? The people wanting to provide care for our brave men and women, or the chicken hawks who have never served but send them out to die and refuse to help them when they get home?
Dissent is the highest form of patriotism.

And I think we all are very proud of you, too.
What we are not proud of is who sent you there, and for the reasons we were told it was the proper thing to do (WMD). We are not proud of the level of (financial and logistical) support that the government has given people like you, your fallen fellow soldiers and their families. Yes, I'd think we should be paying a few more $$$ in taxes if I know it was going to you or your family in the form of better paychecks or benefits.
Yes, we are proud of you and we don't disrespect you. We just have a problem with the motives and action/reactions of the person/government who sent you to do your job.

If you are proud than that is all that matters! I don't know if the family of a dead soldier would be so proud but thats neither here nor there. And you obviously cant ask the dead soldier because...well....hes off to a better place. I guess what I'm trying to say is it will be a different feeling for everyone.

Be proud of what you have done, you have served honorably. Those that have never been here just don't understand, and you could never explain it. Know it your heart you did what was right, and we know why we are here.
Currently in month 11 in Iraq, spent 17 months in Afghanistan (2 tours). So I know what you mean.

Because they are not smart enough to compare what the news media is telling them with what people who have actually been there are saying.
I was amazed at how inaccurate the reporting was during my tour in Iraq. My conclusion is that the media executives have decided that they would profit more from defeat and are spinning the news to make it appear we are losing.

Exactly. If they haven't walked a mile (or 10) in your boots and Flak vest in 120 degree weather then they don't have any room to talk.
It pisses me off that so many people complain and critcize the war. Then people like you are over there defending their right to talk that crap in the first place.
My husband is over there right now and if I hear one more freaking protest I'm gonna scream.
If people won't stand behind the troops feel free to stand in front of them.
Thank you for everything you did and for your service to our country. = )
