Radio waves are low energy. They cause electrons to "jiggle", but not enough to knock them out of orbit around the atom. The cell phone works by detect the "jiggling".
If the radio waves had enough energy to knock the electrons of the atom (ionizing levels of energy), undesirable chemical reactions would occur and you'd have a real problem. The energy levels with a cell phone cause at the most, heat energy.
Energy levels do not depend the *intensity* of the radiation like your intuition might suggest: they depend on the *frequency* of the radiation.
You should be more worried about going out in the sunlight without sunscreen from UV light, which has enough energy to break any chemical bond except the strongest (C-O, H-C, H-F, etc).
All radio waves are on the low end of the frequency spectrum.

I cannot be certain. There is a lot I do not know. But I think cell phones use micro waves as signals for transmission. Microwave is the wave they used for Star Wars. I hope I get all my facts correct.

as far as I know they don't. The sun emits far more dangerous wavelength em radiation and even though most of it is absorbed or reflected by the ozone, what gets in is more harmful than your cellphone, if the cell phone is at all. Check out www.physics2000.com for more detail

Nobody knows for sure. But the exposure rapidly becomes minuscule as you move the cell phone away from your body. Therefore, until we know it's not a problem, use a headset designed to allow the phone to be a few feet away from your body, and especially your head!
