Because they can't resist truth

Yeah I hate that, the reasoning however is a little less rude. The trick is that to a person of faith, or rather a person of very strong faith, you are not getting into paradise. Now this may not seem like a big deal but for these folks that is the eternity they are waiting for, so you not getting in is rather off putting. Its like knowing someone who will never be able to eat solid foods again, or any other concept of never having something rewarding, you look at the person and you say 'I feel sorry for you.' Naturally the concept of eternity is rather a lot larger than solid foods, so you can really see where they get anxious.

I don't know why some Christians say that. But if they read the Bible as carefully as they claim to, they won't find a single mention of this by Jesus, Himself. Jesus preached humility, not wanton arrogance.

We are not belittling your opinion just expressing how we feel. You have the right to feel how you wish and so do we.

Because they feel that non-believers are "doomed." That's just their opinion though. They have a right to their opinion, just as long as they're not trying to cram it down my throat.

pity just makes me angry.

everyone wants to feel superior, and if their house is smaller, their car crappier, their kids nastier, then all they have left is, "i feel sorry for you because you're going to hell"

they should realize that i also feel sorry for them for wasting their lives praying to a god who doesn't exist, but i don't say it because its their faith and i shouldn't judge it. just like they shouldn't judge my lack of faith.
