Go crazy and do something fun but make sure that you are doing something only for yourself. Go to a spa and relax... or maybe pig out and eat icecream. Take a day off work and take a road trip somewhere. You need to do whatever it takes for you to be able to say "I am over you" And if you can't then you need to figure out some way to get this guy back in your life. I think that a big help is to cry. It seems crazy but to watch a sad movie or a chick flick and just cry your feelings away always makes me feel better.

I had a similar devastating experience some years ago. I decided that the emotional trauma following the breakup was such that I didn't think it wise to seek another relationship or even close friendship at the time. So with me I decided to spend more time with those closest to me in a family way. I chose to spend more time with parents and with another family associate. I kept that up for maybe a year before I began to feel more receptive to allowing another person into my life, even superficially. But everyone handles these things differently. Things don't bounce off me very well. Others just go on to the next relationship and are pretty strong about it. You just have to give yourself time and space and realize that things really do get better in time.

Read a book at the library, go swimming, take up a hobby you always wanted to , learn to make a "craft", crochet, watch tv. talk on the internet, go shopping, bake a cake for an elderly person, visit relatives, take that long deserved vacation trip.....it's endles what you can do! Enjoy life!

I agree with with everyone else. Keep yourself busy doing other things and by all means, get a new someone. That's what always worked for me.

Work harder at working. Get involved in something new that you've never done before (during the time you'd usually be spending with that person). Spend more time with your friends and hang out.
Buy bubble wrap and step all over it.

Focus on yourself. Join a gym, take a vacation, teach yourself a new language. There are so many things out there just waiting for you to discover them.

Start by getting off the pity pot, get back up on that horse and live again! Plenty of fish in the sea to help you forget!

First get rid of anything that reminds you of them, second keep busy to keep your mind off of them and last it helps to think of negative things about that person to ease your mind of breaking up with them
