Why do people spend all their lives praying to try to aviod going to the first place and try gain enterance to the latter? Or do these two places even exist? And if it dosen't, then isn't it a lifetime wasted praying?

Hell = pain, torture, long suffering
Heaven = Bliss, peace

Given those two options it seems like Heaven is the obvious answer there.

It is not a lifetime wasted if I am wrong about the finality of it then so be it. Praying though can be very fulfilling and calming. So if all I did was relieve some stress then no big deal.

Jesus had a lot to say about Heaven and Hell. Christians (followers of Christ) believe that Heaven is a place prepared for people who are part of God's Kingdom. It is a place of eternal fellowship with God.

Hell is a place of eternal separation from God. The reason it is so scary is because God removes His influence from that place. Since God is the source of love, joy, peace, etc... Hell is the most horrible place imaginable.

The Bible says (eg, Romans 3:23) that everyone fails to meet God's entry standard for Heaven, which is perfection. In other words, if you are not perfect, then you don't get into Heaven.

Some people think this means you have to do 'good things' to gain a ticket into Heaven. However, this is not true at all.

The Good News (gospel) is that Jesus has paid the penalty for our sins (disobedience towards God) through His death and resurrection. This means that we actually become 'perfect' in God's eyes and hence become part of God's Kingdom and look forward to spending eternity with Him in Heaven. You can learn more about this here:

So yes, there is a Heaven and there is a Hell and if you believe the Bible, then everyone ends up in one place or the other.

As for prayer, the Bible has a lot to say about that too. You can learn more about prayer here:

Most people are afraid of Hell because they believe it is a place of torment and anguish. That concept, however, is based on Greek philosophy and not on the Bible. Hell does exist, but Biblically speaking, it is simply the place where dead people go. There is no activity or consciousness there. Acts chapter 2 plainly teaches that Jesus himself went to hell when he died. The Greek word is Haides. The Hebrew word is Sheol.

As for heaven, it too exists. 1 Kings describes it as the place where God resides. Also the home of the angelic creatures. And Hebrews describes it as the place Jesus went to after he was resurrected in order to present to God the value of his sacrifice. It is also a place to which some faithful will go to live.

The vast majority of the faithful however will live on an earth where peace and security are restored and wickedness is gone.

Heaven is interesting to most because they have been taught that you either go there or you go to a place of torment and anguish. Given that scenario, who in their right mind would not want to go to heaven? But when people learn that hell is simply the place where dead people go and that one can actually live forever on a paradise earth where peace and security are, devoid of wickedness and death, they relax a little.

Many on here will fully admit they are going to hell and some will even say that they want to go there. I don't understand it, but if you ask the question they will answer.. If you don't believe in it, then you will have to find out later if it is true or not. Experience is the greatest teacher, but sometimes can't be undone..

In much of Christianity, heaven is a return to the pre-fallen state of humanity,

That is a quote from above, but life is really not about going to heaven or hell, it is about who you will serve. As created beings do we want to serve our creator or not. If we choose to rebel against our creator then we must suffer the consequences. Going to hell is just where you go when you don't want to obey God.. The Christians will be returned to what Adam was like before they sinned and we will continue to serve our creator.. Man who thinks that he doesn't have a creator must then serve himself or something else..

If none of this exists then why bother??? Why even ask questions if you don't believe it exists?? It is not like Christians come with knives and guns, they are only words and if they have no meaning then why do you worry?? Go about your lives, and don't pay any attention to Christians and you will find out if you are correct or not in the end..
like they say in MAD COMICS What me worry???
If we are crazy then ignore us..

Its more than just praying. Its actually a way of life.

From wikipedia:
In much of Christianity, heaven is a return to the pre-fallen state of humanity, a second and new Garden of Eden, in which humanity is reunited with God in a perfect and natural state of eternal existence. Christians believe this reunion is accomplished through the redemptive work of Jesus Christ in having died for the sins of humanity on the cross.

According to many religions, the afterlife affords evildoers to suffer eternally. In monotheistic religions, Hell is often populated by demons who torment the damned. The fallen angel Lucifer in Christian theology, otherwise known as Satan, is commonly portrayed in popular culture as the ruler of Hell. Others portray Hell as the final resting place of the Devil, prepared as his punishment by God Himself. Hell is also defined as an utter absence of God or redemptive force.

It's all lie to make you behave while you're alive. When you die ... guess what? YOU DIE! Goodbye. No Heaven - No Hell. No nothing. Not even 72 virgins.

i'd just rather live my life. both heaven and hell are present on earth, in a way. i'd rather avoid this earthly hell.

i don't care to much about what happens after i die because, well, i'll be dead. lol.
