It depends on if He accepted Jesus Christ as His Lord and Savior. If not, Jesus would reject Him before His Father. Jesus described hell, so there is one.
God knows. If you know any thing about John's life until His death, just ask God if John's in Heaven. God is Love. Love rejoices in the truth. God is Spirit. Pray in the Holy Spirit, in the joy from faith in God's truth. If you pray in the Spirit & Truth, John is in Heaven with the Lord, rejoicing in the Spirit of Truth that He truely is. Then, He Is.
Added later July 6: I prayed about John Lennen this morning, and I can't find joy in my spirit that He is in heaven with my Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ. He had rejected Jesus Christ Salvation.

Why would you ask something like that? What did John Lennon do to deserve frying in the depths of hell? If he is there, I am sure that there are plenty of people there with him.

If you believe what some of the christian fundamentalists say, then yes, John Lennon is certainly in hell as we speak, along with the vast majority of departed humankind.
But I hope that isn't the case. I would like to think that God isn't as narrow and angry as some people would have us believe.
John Lennon was shot and killed only for the fact that he was John Lennon...if Mark David Chapman "finds Jesus" sometime during his life sentence, then all is forgiven? He spends eternity in God's presence? Wow...

No cuz Heaven and Hell do not exist. And if they did John would of probably preferred Hell. At least he can play his guitar there and drink and curse. Anyway, Jesus wouldn't want him in Heaven. He'd be too big there.

That would really depend on you, or me, or him believing in hell.
