Well, I might as well get this verse out there so folks who argue either way can point to it.

Leviticus 19:32 says, "And cuttings for a dead person shall ye not make in your flesh, nor put any tattoo writing upon you: I am Yahweh."

That being said, we are not under the law, but under grace now. Paul tells us this in Romans 6:14: "For sin will not have mastery over you, because you are not under law but under grace."

The law was a tutor to show us what God's righteousness demands, and that we can't meet that standard, but need a Savior. (Galatians 3:24-25)

Because we have received such a great salvation, what are we to do? To live lives that please Him. (II Corinthians 5:9) Now, ask yourself: "Why do I want a tattoo?" Then pray about it and see if it is something that you would have no problem with when you see Jesus, or if it would be something that you would be ashamed of when you see Him. Then act on that.

I was told last night that the bible says our body is a temple, and we should not mark the temple, although I don't know where it says that. Personally, I think tatoos are low class and ugly. Why not get a temporary tatoo? Why stick ink under your skin?

The early Christians often had tatoos which identified themselves as Christians.

Read Leviticus 19:28. You will have to decide yourself. This is the old testament, however we can't read one part of the Bible and throw the other part away.
Personal experience: My children have tattoo's and I don't like them. They are the ones that will have to live with it. I have seen my daughter try to hide hers a few times. I think she regrets having the tattoo's. My children are backslid Christians.
I have enough scars on my body without having tattoo's.

I think there are places in the bible that would say that it's not right to mark your body. But, I honestly think that it's what you have marked on your body that is the true question. Is what you have/will have respectful to yourself and others?
I personally have 4 tattoos and I am Christian, if I had it to do over, I would not have gotten them, but that's just me.

The bible states that your body is a temple and that you should treat it like one , so modification of your body is not wanted....but as long as its not a 666 tattoo :P you will be alright , have never met anyone who would say that you are a bad christian because you have a tattoo

the Bible actually says not to mark your body. I have read it myself but I can't remember which book. I have a tattoo, but since I read it I haven't gotten anymore. If u already have tattoos, u don't have to go and get them removed, just don't get any more. If u go to amazingfacts.org or .com, you can ask this question and they'll tell u where it is in the Bible.

In Genisis it says something about coloring your skin, but I've seen a million Christians with tattoos. It's not like you'll get thrown out of heaven!! Besides, you'll have a new body.

The Old Testement forbids it but we no longer follow the old law, we follow the new Testement or in other words the New law. It just really depends on oyur point of view and what you are getting if a man/woman get a naked person than yeah but if they are harmless htings than no. My Dad has several, one is barbed wire with my Mom's name above it and it has my name, my sisters and my brothers. Those kind of things are harmless.

Levitivcus19:28 says You shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead nor print any marks upon you. I am the Lord..
I firmly believe in my heart of hearts that this makes God very unhappy. Some believe that if you put a religious marking, that it makes it right. If God said it, then my conviction is to stay away from doing it!!!!!!!!
