I read Marie Claire and Glamour magazines and one of them compiled info on this. It appears that for people who are baby boomers (people in their 40s and 50s) that males cheat more than females. However, people born after the baby boomers (people in their 20s and 30s) cheat equally among men and women. It was quite an interesting article.

I have to agree to Jarm: Women today have more independence and are more prevalent in the workforce today, therefore, opportunities in infidelity are more available to them.
As a soceiteal whole, comparing men and women, the number of ladies cheating are daily on the rise. Statistically, I figure about two to five more years from now, the totals being cheaters will likely be equal between men and women.
But when a paper lace heart finds her man cheated on her; tearing and breaking her tender heart.....sobb.....sob...her girlfriends will rally around the poor girl, eat tons of choclate, bash us guys (something I'm now well used to), watch chick flicks....and boo-a-hoo hoo hoo!

I dunno. I think in the past, women had less opportunities to cheat, being at home, but then they got friendly with encyclopedia salesmen and dryer repair men. Now they are in the workforce and are more independant in general, I think they take advantage of opportunities as much as men do. But women are maybe much less driven about it, more casual instead of obsessive about it. I mean, if a girl doesn't get laid for a while, its no big deal, but for some guys it seems to be the end of the world.

Not necessarily, but I do think that women are more likely to initiate affairs outside of their current relationship, whereas when men cheat it's usually in response to the approaches of another woman.

I personally believe that males would tend to cheat more but they'll feel guilty about it Women might not cheat as much but if they decide to cheat, they'll not have any guilt.
It balances out. also depends on the country and culture.

A few years ago I would've said HELL YES, but after Sex and the City I think women think they're entitled to cheat and be whores so they do it just as much as men do now.

no such statistics available to prove this point rationally. being women, they would naturally think men cheat more, but if you come to think of it, women are more fake than men. they cheat and do away with it. but men atleast have some moral courage to admit, sorry, i did this, will you forgive me? have you seen any so-called faithful wife admitting to her husband, that she slept with his best friend? she will behave as if nothing has happened, so it's the guilty conscience which has to be strong enough.

I think its pretty much equal. I have been cheated on, and I have cheated. I think it is based on the person, and their personal relationship, not whether or not they are male or female.

No, more than likely its probably close to 50/50.... What the issue is, is the men typically are not smart enough to be or stay descreet about it, hence its noticed more in men and they get caught more.
