There is now speculation that Judas might have been collaborating with Jesus, that Jesus actually asked him to betray him to the Romans.
After all, if Jesus didn't die, how would he atone for your sins?
And it simply wouldn't do for Jesus to commit suicide, so he needed Judas.
(Anyway, that's the new theory, not my own opinion. Just an FYI.)

He was framed, and he committed suicide because he couldn't take all the false accusations thrown at him. He loved Jesus with all his heart. I don't believe Jesus asked Judas to betray him. He loved Judas too much. It was a frame up I tell ya.
