Sure, you could say that war and weapons were, but many (most) wars were fought for religious reasons.

God is not a human invention. He's more than that. He's more like the result of human it's mental evolution. I mean he's a result of the development of thought, not just some "invention". Man questions, and as a result, he realises there's more than meets the eye. Plus how does he do humanity good? Doesn't humanity do the "good"?

God did the MOST good for society and himanity. He died for our sins so that we could have everlasting life. He gave us a second chance to make right with him. The only that is an invention of the human race is society. Everything else has been because God willed it to be. Read Gensis 1. Without God, we wouldn't be here. He gave us the ability to breath, to think, to laugh, do everything that we do. Without God we wouldn't be here.

I sincerely don't think the invention of deities was a great one, honestly. A major, decisive one, indeed, but I have a hard time believing the world is better because of it.

Wars weren't fought over religion- they were fought over peoples' PRIDE of their religion. Religion itself didn't start the war. It wasn't all like, "Oh, look, Catholocism, BOMB!" It was more, "Oh, look Catholocism, I don't like that." "Oh yeah?" "Yeah." BOMB!

I think it wasn't any particular God that was bad, it was the totalitarian "If your not with me, your against me, religions."
