They'll not get as excited about playing a game, they'll act cowardly and seem less demanding or assertive than usual, and often keep to themselves. My dog goes through that every once in a while, and we just give her a lot of attention until she seems to perk up and "feel wanted" again.

dogs get depressed just like humans
does your dog display any of these signs?

1. just lays around and when you call him or her to go out they give u that sad look?

2. doesnt want to play?
3. doesnt want to eat their favorite treat?

i would suggest taking your dog to your vet..
maybe your dog is lonely for another dog to play with.

If he's depressed he won't eat, wouldn't listen to you or maybe he would just lie down and become lazy. They sometimes whine too if no-one is paying any attention to them and they get depressed
