Why do people say it's sometimes best not to show the one you love how much you really love them?

For a few reasons. Some people will take that love for granted because they know how strong it is. Other times, people may become frightened or nervous if they find out the other person loves them much more than they feel for the other. By not showing everything, you keep the other guessing and working for affection which can help to keep the relationship fresh.

Chances are it could be one of four things:

They've gone out on a limb and gotten hurt by telling someone they loved them. That person may have not felt the same or cheated on them at some point in time.

They haven't gone out on a limb and are scared of the unknown.

Someone else has gone out on a limb and told them how they felt, and the person who was told how much he/she was loved didn't feel the same, and it therefore complicated the relationship even more so.

Lastly, perhaps the person suggesting you not go out on a limb knows something about the person you have strong feelings for and doesn't want YOU to get hurt by doing so.

I don't know anyone who would say that. Possibly the people you are talking to don't know about real love, or don't know what it is like to be with someone a long time (2 or more years). Not knowing where you stand with someone will almost guarantee that the relationship willhave trouble. I would stop listening to the people you are getting advice from.

now that we know this let's move along. I told you we were going out on Friday but I got a call from one of my male friends and he wants to go out drinking. I know you will understand, so I blow you off and go out with him. then I don't apologize for not calling.

Because some people believe that its the challenge that keeps us humans interested in each other...The need to conquer...and if somebody is laying at your feet, you feel no motivation to woe them...I personally think its bull****...Life is such a pretense to begin with, you'd think at least in love, we'd aim for authenticity...

Because it can be used against you. You don't want someone taking advantage of you because they know how much like or love them. What happends if your relationship comes to an end. You'll feel like crap because your gave too much of yourself to someone who wasn't worth it.

I don't know where there committment line is but I can speak from experience......I gave it my all regardless of what is best or not and for that I will always keep in my heart a joy I never felt before or will ever again....this is not a loss.........

That's a good question!!!! Maybe because that person has had some bad relationships before! Or maybe they like a friend {a lot} and asking this person out might destroy their friendship!!

but it depends on the situation whether to tell it or not
if anybody thinks to whom he loves will be happy in her life and if that person (to whom she loves) loves anybody else then he thinks that he should not tell her that he loves her. this may heart her heart and he can not suffer this.
