Yeah, there's always that chance that the vaccination didn't "take". It may have also been a different strand of parvo, or carona virus that wasn't included with the vaccination, and still yet, there's always a chance that the virus could have slightly mutated, enough for your dog to get it. You shouldn't worry too much, as long as you disinfected the area the beagle was in......clean it thoroughly with bleach. Then make sure you wash your hands thoroughly. Anywhere the beagle was should be disinfected.....especially in areas where the dog deficated at. If you have to......get a hose sprayer and do the outside, if the dog when outside to poo and pee. Best of luck to you........

the reason for the vaccination is so they can get immuned to the desease. If you had a previous dog that got parvo. I would clean my floors with bleach. DO NOT let the puppy go outside (touch the ground) untill it has had all the parvo shots. If I am not mistaking the parvo can stay alive in the ground up to 7 years. The only way I know when the shot don't work is if the dog had a high fever when the shot was given. A dog can survive parvo if caught early on. dehydration is the big problem. I have gotten a dog that got parvo 2 weeks later I got a new puppy she is now 13 years old. Just have to be careful. Good luck

Parvo is a something very nasty to get and is a big puppy killer. You can give a shot but if the dog is under 12 weeks the shot is not good. As the puppy is still under mothers imunity.

The NeoPar vaccine can over ride mother's maternal anibottys. It is a straight Parvo shot.

Also clean clean clean with bleach! I have heard that Parvo can last 7 years on a surfce. I had a puppy with it so I vaccinated all my pups with NeoPar and we have never seend it again. Note the puppy got it from the vets office just from a ruteen check up.

It is possable, even with vaccinations. There are no differant or mutated strains. Vaccination helps protect against virus infection. Your next pet is less lickly to die with the virua infection if he catches it. You do need to clean up the area . Everywhere this animal has been and NOT been. Stepping on feces areas can carry the virus to other areas of your home on your shoes. The Parvo virus is viable for many months after the death of a pet. To kill the virus use a solution of 10% bleach to 90% water and spray all around your home. Reapeat as needed. Good luck.

Remove all feces and disinfect with bleach the places where the infected dog stayed. Have your new dog tested and vaccinated before bringing it home. Yes, they can be infected but it would only be mild symptoms if vaccinated. Parvo is very easily spread, so the sooner you get the dog vaccinated the better. If you get a pound puppy, the risk is of infection is higher, but breeders usually are quick to vaccinate. Good luck..Ladylazarus

Yes they can, I recently went to a seminar about this.If over the years you have had many cases of parvo the concentrations rise and rise...I doubt this is true in your case. But It can happen..I would advise you to get a fully vaccinated adult dog.Clean everything with bleach left sitting 10-20 minutes..Wash dog bowls, bedding ect in Bleach...I would even go as far as to bleach outside a bit if its possible..Parvo hits puppies and elderly dogs the most.So get a 1 or 2 year old with proff of shots and hit it with another shot for good luck.....Sorry about your loss...Parvo is AWFUL

You should wait 3 months before you get another dog. The "virus" can still be alive in your house and yard for 3 months or longer.

Getting the vaccination only lowers the risk... don't let the disease discourage you from getting another dog though it doesnt always happen!
