I don't understand how there are even grounds to debate this, as all tangable evidence supports evolution. Religions themselves are just story book social clubs. How many major religions are there around the world? Have each of us been lucky enough to have been born into the right one? Should I sit here and believe that just because they lived 2.5 Million years ago, that Hobo Habilis, an early human being, would be sentenced to an after life of hell or purgatory simple due to the fact that Jesus Christ wasn't around yet to spread the word of God, therefore they could have lived a life of sin? Why should I buy into this mythical being known as God, or Buddha, or in the case of the acient Greeks, several different Gods? Religion was created to keep order in this word. By instilling in everyones mind that there are greater consequences than to that of our phyical being, consequences which are so unfortunate and unreversible, we as humans strive to abide to our religions rules...

Buddha is not mythical. He was a Prince who fought against the class system in India. Buddhism does not have Gods but beleives in the spirit of humankind.

I've answered this question before....If you believe you are no more than some hybrid monkey.. then all of this philosophical questioning you are doing is supposed to be impossible. How do think you can ask a question like this? Do you think your intellect is an accident? Why hasn't this intellect manifested itself in some other species on this planet? Why are we an anomaly? You are trying to use two aspects of your being to answer age old questions. These two aspects are...#1. your five senses...#2. your intellect. They will always conflict because you are an imperfect being. They will connect when you meet our creator. Religion is not your real problem...your struggle with your vanity and ego is the problem. Control your self and answers to your conflict will come more easily. Love your neighbor as yourself. That rule will take you to your next state of being....and there...you will learn......

You say, "All Tangible Evidence Support Evolution" ...
Have you ever tried to see what these Evidences are ?..
Have you ever tried to Estimate how much risk is there in the calculation of Life of a bone ? Have you ever asked Science Community why they out caste a scientist when there findings contradicts Evolution ? Why don't you ask Scientist to Show you a Real Monkey who changes into Man ??? have you asked what is the proof of Big Bang to Scientist ?? And why are there so many "Theories" on Creation if they know the fact ??? Why is Darwin Theory Still Called Theory and not a fact ??
Darwin himself agreed his failure to explain the evolution of Human Eye ... has any one told you this before ???
If you are Teaching Science then why are you not teaching the defects in each Theory also ... ?? Can you tell me one Fact in Evolution that has been Proved and Shown Experimentally ???

If you are Real Scientist why are you using Imagination instead of practical Experimentation ???

Please go and check your Science again ... Don't have BLIND FAITH on Scientist .... That is my Request ....

you seem to have a clear sense of what religion means to you. Why are you wasting so much energy dwelling on it? If other people want to indulge in it, for the most part it is okay. Not to belittle all the horror and suffering people cause each other, but it is no better or worse than any other "ism" people are forcing onto each other. Chances are, you aren't going to be shot by an anti-abortionist or blown up in a terrorist attack. There are a great many obnoxious things that people do, and religion is just one of them. Spend your mental time on more worthwhile things, get creative and enjoy life (all of which is much harder if you're focussing on other people's narrow-minded beliefs)

I do agree with you to a point. There are so many religions, but whose to say which one is the right one. Everybody believes that their religion is the right one and to them it is right. I don't think this question can ever be answered. For every answer there is another question. Religion and science have been debating for years about evolution.

My only concern is to myself. I need something to believe in or life is meaningless. I have to believe that there is a higher being and our life here on earth is not for nothing. Religion is a touchy subject to debate and I don't think anyone will ever know the answers. I do believe that religion is man-made and I don't agree with everything they say. I don't believe they should dictate how many children you should have and what method of birth control you should use. That is what the Catholic religion use to dictate.

As far as sin goes, if you do wrong things, its you who has to live with yourself and that is self punishment in itself. As far as afterlife, I feel there has to be a better place to go after your life on earth is done. That is faith and without faith I think you are totally lost.

I live my life as happy and meaningful as I can. I don't abide by religious rules, I just abide by own. I try to do the right thing to myself and others. I try to be a good person and that in itself is its own reward. You will get a lot of answers here but in the end you have to look to yourself and decide what is best for you.

People still need comfort. People still need explanations for things they don't understand. Even intelligent people find that the welcoming arms of the religious or spiritual community of their choice fills a need for community.

Humans are designed to be tribal. It was a survival trait for eons. It still has an appeal to modern humans. In the most urban of environments, people still seek the company and security of others with whom they feel a common bond -hence gangs.

People feel comfort with the familiar, so the rituals, songs and prayers of most religions are perceived as warm and homey by many of those who participate.

If people actually believe in an anthropomorphic God is not always as important as finding a refuge for their psyche.

I believe that God created upon this earth PRIOR TO Genesis 1:1-31, 2:1-3.

I believe God destroyed all prior creation (Gen.1:2) to bring forth man created in God's likeness (Gen.1:26), with an UNBROKEN lineage beginning with Adam.

you just answered your own question. to believe in ultimate reward or punishment, is what keeps things in perspective, or use to. I don't believe any one subscribes that much to any religious theory, if they did what would happen to war and our glorified dead? By following the Christ myth, you would be following the ancient Roman myths, they go hand in hand, including human sacrifice...war again. Oh I guess that is the answer, because one person follows the teaching of one god and another believes a different god, we go to war. See Dude , every god has it's purpose, and everyone worships at the throne of Mars.

Buddha is not a mythologial creation.

He was a man who found a way to live a life of peace.

He reiterated throughout his life, not to make him a god or worship him.
