Hamas and the Palestinians have been killing innocent, men, women and children for years. It is their avowed intent to wipe Israel of the face of the earth.
Hamas has publicly siad it is targeting schools and innocent civilians.
Look at what is happening in Gaza now. Would it be happening if the Palestinians had not attacked the Israeli position and taken the soldier hostage! Of course not. Therefore all that is happening to the Palestinians in the Gaza strip today has been brought on themselves.
Stop and consider for a minute. What were the Israelis doing before the Palestinian attack? They were seeking peace. They had already moved out of some settlements and were looking to move out of more. They had already moved their troops out of Gaza. And what were Hamas/Palestinians doing? Thats right looking for war. Stating their aim was to wipe Israel out and continuing to slaughter the innocents.
And by the way - what wilful destruction of homes by the Israelis? If you watch the news you will see they are firing their guns onto open ground to stop Palestinians firing rockets at them from it. They only fire on homes when a rocket has been fired from them.
All it would take for peace to return to the area and the Palestinians to get their own state and country is for them to stop bombing, shooting and firing rockets and sit down to talk peace.

Its a spiral of violence which is out of control.
The Israelis have suffered over 50 years of all of their much bigger neighbouring countries trying to wipe them off the map, plus a 40 year campaign of the most viscious and ruthless terrorism against their civilian population.
Not surprisingly they now respond to acts of terror with massive force, and in doing so inflict pain and misery on civilians themselves.
Therefore those civilians become terrorists and suicide bombers and so the cycle continues.
The people who organise and finance the terrorists know what they are doing however as they deliberately hide amongst civilians therfore ensuring that in order to get at them the Israelis are seen to be bulldozing houses and shelling domestic areas.
This gives them the moral high ground.
How does the world stop it? I really don't know anymore as if I was an Israeli I would want to take any action required to ensure my family dont get blown up in a restaurant by a suicide bomber, and if I was a Palestinian I would take great exception to a tank driving through my house.

The Palestinians need to stop doing things like tunneling under the Gaza area into Israel attacking the military and taking hostages. That might help. Israel has every right to take action against such an invasion. They have a right to exist whether others are hell bent on their destruction or not.

Israelis do not need an excuse to destroy lands or people . It is in their blood.

It is difficult, if you were not present, to specify blame in a situation you did not witness - this goes along with the USA policy of "presumed innocence" that often lets criminals go, rather than wrongly convict an innocent person. The general situation, viewed from the outside, reminds me of something one of my sons said, when we stopped afight between him and a brother - "it all started when he hit me back!" What we are definitely in here is a repisal mode, that IS certain!

The suicidal Palestinians who couldn't be satisfied with what they were given after years of whining about it.
The moment they began launching rockets from Gaza, after Israel gave it over to them completely, they asked for what they are getting and more.
