I have had this happen before when I have intercourse shortly after my cycle and it is totally normal!
Sometimes even when your cycle did not just happen it can happen especially if the sex was rough or if he was real large.
Now on a side note let me also add that if you are not using any kind of birth control (or even if you are) this could have been implantation bleeding. However implantatio bleeding is usually a lighter color not brown.
Brownish usually indicates older blood that has been sitting up there.

This is actually pretty common, and no need for dramatic concern yet...lol. It could be a couple of things:
Implantation Bleeding. If you have unprotected sex, then there is a chance you could have become pregnant. Implantation bleeding is when the woman's fertilized egg implants in the lining of the uterus. This sometimes causes spotting and discharge, and sometimes light cramps. Implantation bleeding occurs about 6 days after conception, but it can sometimes be a little earlier or later in some. I would recommend a pregnancy test. A urine pregnancy test can determine a positive pregnancy 12-15 days from conception. Some say that they will work before you miss a period, but this is only true in women who create a high level of the pregnancy hormone, HcG. Since you don't know how much your body will create of the hormone, then i recommend waiting about 2 days after your missed period. If you anxios to know sooner, then a blood pregnancy test is a good choice. They are much more reliable than a urine test, and can tell much more sooner if you are pregnant; about 6-8 days from conception! You can get a blood pregnancy test done for about $30, and either at your local health department, clinic, or doctors office.
Impending menstration. Some women have a slight discharge a few days, or up to a week, before they are due to start their period. The time before a women starts her period, her cervix gets soft and sensitive. Having sexual intercourse can sometimes irritate it. Since the cervix is covered with blood vessels, they can sometimes bleed when irritated during sex. This is normal, and no cause for concern. They only time you should be concerned about this type of discharge/ bleeding is if is it really heavy, followed by clots and cramps. This could indicate a tear of the cervix, which is pretty rare in the first place.
STD'S (Sexually traasmitted Disease)'s, such as Chlamydia and pelvic inflammatory disease. Even if you did use protection, there is still a chance you may have contracted an STD. You can set up an apointment at your local health separtment, clinic, or doctor's office so they can test you. The test is about 15 minutes long, and you should have the results the same day. Most places test for free, and it is confidential, so no one will know about it. It's importnant to get tested if you are having sex, because if you do have an STD, and it is left untreated, it can spread to bigger things and cause serious health problems. Not all STD's can be cured, but they can be treated with medicine.
Another possible cause of bleeding between periods could be a hormone imbalance. If you use the oral contraceptive pill, you could be experiencing breakthrough bleeding. If so, you will usually be advised to use an additional method of contraception and if it continues for more than two or three cycles, you may be given a higher dose of the Pill.
Sometimes, bleeding after sex is due to a cervical polyp, which is a fragile, fleshy growth that can protrude through the cervical opening on a stalk. Every women gets this sometime in her life, and it is also no cause for concern. It will go away on its own.
Good luck to you!

The female vagina naturally cleanses itself by discharging what it doesn't need.I do recommend that you see a doctor just to be on the safe side because you don't want to mistake it for something common like a yeast infection.Certain STD's can cause a change in color of your vaginal discharge and even the smell. Also try searching the web to see if you can find a site that would tell you what are normal colors of discharge.

I am not a Dr but I have been through this. My things was a discharge of old blood. Are you on any kind of BC? Sometimes that plays a role in it. Maybe you should seek your gyno for further advise. But if you have been with only one parter and he with only, I dont think there is to much to worry about.
