I was curious...how many people have cats who let you brush their teeth? I have tried many times, but I haven't had a cat who liked it or would let me. Vets say it's best to practice good dental hygiene rather than waiting for their teeth to get nasty and infected (same with dogs). I have two cats...one eats mostly wet food and the other dry food. The one who eats mostly dry food has nice, white SHARP teeth. The one who eats wet food doesn't exactly have a nice smile. (They are 8 years old.) Obviously the dry food helps keep them in shape. Just curious if you brush your cat's teeth.

I just wanted to add that neither cat has teeth problems...it's just that Stinky (who eats a lot of dry food) has whiter teeth. I may try dry cat food to improve my teeth too.

I have those tartar control breath treats that i feed mine one every 2 or 3 days and i brush her teeth with malt flavoured enzyme toothpaste that my vet recommended. she doesnt love it when i brush her teeth but she enures patiently then runs off and sits wiping off bits of stray toothpaste off her mouth in indignation. hehhe
I've heard wet food makes their teeth bad so i usually try to vary wet and dry food for mine.

I've had cats for awhile. I've always fed them dry cat food which cuts down on the tartar buildup on their teeth. They have had minimal problems with their teeth, if at all. As for brushing, I don't wish to be bitten!
It is also a good way for vets to pull in some extra $$$$

I saw some kind of a chew treat product for cats at the pet store yesterday that claimed to help cats's teeth. I doubt your one cat would be interested in it. I have no idea, but I can't imagine a cat that would let you brush his or her teeth. I have a tough enough time clipping the front toe nails.

That's why we don't feed them wet food, we do the dry food it helps control the tartar. We have never had a problem with their teeth.
