I notice that most Islamic teachings were not new. They are mainly taken from Jaudism and Paganism. Some examples are:
1- Monotheism (worshipping only one god), which is the basic idea of Islam, is taken from Jaudism.
2- Zakat (charity money or tax) is also taken from Jaudism.
3- Praying for god (Salat) is also taken from Jaudism and Paganism (Muslim prayers is very similar to ancient Pagan's prayer).
4- Pilgrimage (Hajj & Omra) are taken from Paganism.
5- Most Islamic teachings to encourage people to do good deeds and prohibt them from doing bad deeds are also taken from Jaudism and Christianity.
6- Most Islamic punishments (Sharia Hodoud) are taken from Paganism (such as cutting the hands of thieves) and old Jaudism (such as stoning adulters to death).

Can anyone tell me what exactly was the new thing that Islam brought?

islam didn't say that it is a new religeon ,it is the same old god (allah) religeon, however ,islam should have came because all other previous god religeons became modified and corrupted by the hands of men of religeon (this is not offenss, it is proved by objective research).it was considered new for the corruption but it is basicaly refreshment of the old true original god religeon.it is by allah and not by any human being.and as muslims we believe in the original jewish and christian bible which are not present nowadays.

QURAN,

====================

Islam is there since man sets foots on earth. God sent new messenger to confirm the previous scriptures and to modify the law which was corrupted by people with the passage of time.

after quran, no new revelation will come

Quran(15:9). We have, without doubt, sent down the Message; and We will assuredly guard it (from corruption)

In the Old Testament (for example, Joshua) commandments are given to commit horrible violence against non-Jewish peoples. Mass murder is commanded, with no regard for women, children or the elderly. This merciless savagery is totally against God's justice, and recalls the barbarism of pagan cultures, who worshipped a mythical god of war.

The Jewish concept of "struggle" is a primitive notion reminiscent of the life of the hunter gatherer and the dangers of the open desert, where every stranger is considered a threat to be killed, captured, or at the very least, put to use for one's own purposes, being looked upon no differently than would an animal. In the stories of the Old Testament one finds innumerable examples of this struggle. We read, for instance, that
after the death of Moses, Joshua son of Nun wished to enter Palestine with his people. So he encamped around the city of Jericho and commanded the people to blow their horns. "As soon as the people heard the sound of the trumpet, the people raised a great shout, and the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city. Then they utterly destroyed all in the city, both men and women, young and old, oxen, sheep, and asses, with the edge of the sword " (Joshua 6:20-21).

The notion of struggle has taken root over time in the hearts of the Jewish people, evolving into a mentality characterized by racial prejudice and social reclusiveness" . Moreover, in the ancient Jewish writings we find a type of religious literature referred to as "eschatological" writings, the literal meaning of this term being "description of the end". (The Greek term eschatologie is composed of two words, namely eschatos, meaning "the end", and logos, meaning speech, or description.) Such writings depict a particular end to which the world must inevitably come. And in all Jewish writings on this theme we find that the notion of struggle in associated with this inevitable end, while the final victory in the struggle is, inescapably and by the nature of things, Israel.
In the book attributed to the Old Testament prophet Ezekiel, we find numerous visions related to this unavoidable end, one which begins with the cleansing of Jewish society from all impurity. It is a purification which will take place through wars, siege and death and in which God pours out His wrath upon Jerusalem and its inhabitants: "A third part of you shall die of pestilence and be consumed with famine in the midst of you; a third part shall fall by the sword round about you; and a third part I [God] will scatter to all the winds and will unsheathe the sword after them" (Ezekiel 5:12). Once this purification has taken place, the chosen people - or what is left of them - will be worthy to enter the final battle in which they will win victory and dominion over the world

I am Muslim, and you are right, Islam is not new. Islam is the same religion followed by Adam, Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and all the Prophets of God and the people who followed them. Unfortunately, people corrupted the Bible and The Torah, and therefore God sent the last Messenger, Muhammad, the reveal Truth to Mankind. So, Islam is not new, and thanks for asking.

Nothing I know of. One of Islam's teachings is that change or growth is Satanic. The more secular Muslims are, the more likely they are to accept new ideas and new technology.

Well, most religions are made up of the ideas of several different religions. I mean, even Christianity was branched off of Judaism. But I cannot answer your original question. Sorry.

So a Doctor must come up with his own new ways to save patients or he is a false doctor?
A teacher must come up with a new theory to solve his problem or else he is a false teacher?

Your theory eats it's ownself.
