You can buy special 'bug spray' for dogs and cats. It normally comes in a little tube which you open and squeeze out all down the animal's back It tells you how to aply it on the package. You shouldn't use anything like OFF or Away, or any othe rbug spray/lotion on animals because they lick themselves a lot and some of these sprays can hurt them.

Make sure you get rid of any standing water near your yard - especially in old tires. Mosquitoes love to breed there. You can also get a propane-fired mosquito trap from a home center.
Try www.campmor.com - I think they sell a mosquito repellent for dogs.
This pet supply company has one also -
http://www.omahavaccine.com/
this is the link to the product you're looking for from Omaha vaccine company:
http://www.petsuppliesdelivered.com/single_product_display.cfm?id=15097
I've ordered from both companies and they are very reliable with good prices!
Never use a human product - you could kill your dog or cause serious neurological problems.

My dogs live with Off in the summer. But, ours is biting flies. We live on a lake.
A very wealthy mosquito expert lives here. He said Martin houses are very bad for the mosquito population. Martins eat Dragon Flies and Dragon Flies eat lots and lots of mosquitos. He also suggests fogging every few hours. He said that's all that really works. Non of these high dollar pieces of equipment. Just a fogger. Good luck.

No its not ok!!! Go to the pet shop or vet clinic and get this special body spray for your dog which will prevent mosquito or other insect bites on her/him...........
But remember this spray must not be used in a regular basis......
Read the instructions first or get advice from the Vet Doc........

No OFF spray... you'll make your dog quite sick. They sell Flea treatments for dogs that also repel mosquito's, and if you leave you dog outside make sure you get ride of all possible standing water. I hope you give your dog heart-worm prevention, they get heart-worms from mosquito's.

You should go to your local pet store and ask an employee if they sell anything for bug bites so you don't have to take a chance on harming your dog with human sprays. Always be sure!!

You and your dog can take Brewers Yeast tablets. Go to your local vitamin store and pick up a bottle of tablets. My grandkids take them, I take them , and I give both my dogs and cat one a day. The dogs and the cat actually like them and chew them up on their own. I never get bit, and my animals never have fleas or get bit by mosquitos.
