almost all counbtries have regulations on their customs about the carrying of tobacco or its most popular form
cigarrettes
if you want to export cigs you must do it by other means such as buying to a wholesaler and have it SENT BY ship

Hi
I live near Alicante and fly 'home' a couple of times a year. I always buy cigs locally, as they now cost the same price as in the duty free shops. I smoke L&M which cost 2.35Euro a pack and are fine. I have been told there is no limit on how many you can take as long as they are for personal consumption, not sure how true this is, However I normally take about 800 home

You official guidline from customs is you are allowed to bring back 3200 cigarettes per adult (when travelling within the EU). This is just a guidline and you can bring back more provided you can prove they are for personal consumption (So don't bring 400 each of loads of different brands). I know someone who had 5000 and got stopped at customs, they made a note of it on their records but that was the harshest discipline recieved. You are better off buying in Spain (the only of the countries I have visited recently) from a tobacconist as they will probably be the lowest price. As for brands I really don't know.

The reason they are cheaper on the reservation is that they do not pay tax. You could buy tobacco and a rolling machine and produce them yourself for even less than that or you can buy in bulk and re-distribute, but you'd need to buy tobacco tax stamps and remit sales tax, so the price will not be much different than what you pay in the store. The only way to get around this would be to have a private "club" which buys in bulk and then distributes them to the members at cost. At least this would work in my state.

Forget the Canaries as its a duty free ... I go to Barcelona as its easy to get cheap flights. You can buy as many as you want in the shops there as long as they are for your own consumption. You can take an empty case over. My friend was once stopped and he just had to produce his lighter to show that he was a smoker. Sometimes, if you buy enough and your flight is cheap enough, the money you save can 'pay' for your flight.

Why not drive instead of flying? Drive to Luxembourg.
