it's normal for a small amount of bleeding to occur after mating b/c they may have been "hung up" a bit, but if the bleeding persists, you need to take him to a vet. he could have bladder or prostate problems that require a course of anitbiotics.

Well since it was an accident I won't give my typical spiel! lol
I've never seen a male bleed after breeding. Exactly where is he bleeding from? If it's from the urethra then he has something internally wrong, if it's on the sheath or outside of his penis then he could have been cut or scraped against something. If in fact it's internal I would be worried about prostate health and would have him examined because it could be cancer. If it's an external wound, watch it and make sure it doesn't get worse and as long as it's not a gaping hole I wouldn't worry too much about it as long as the bleeding stops.

I have never heard of this happening but I would contact your vet and/or someone else who is familiar with breeding. Um, this is going to sound really, really dumb, but is he hurt, like cut or something? Or does he look ill? Either way I would suggest asking your vet. Hope this doesn't sound really stupid and I wouldn't be surprised if you thought I was an idiot-but, you never know.
Edit:
My dog has only been bred once and we took her to the male dog's house so I don't know how it happened exactly, but I think the other people who have answered above are right.

If the two dogs got hung up and they got jerked apart there could be a small amount of bleeding also if the female was much smaller then the male. But if it persists I would contact a vet asap

initially she should be a minimum of two yrs. previous, and the male a minimum of one million year. previous. second if she stopped bleeding, they'd have already finished the deed. Gererally canine dont breed contained in the initiating and the top of the warm temperature, its many times contained in the middle.

When they "unlocked" he could have gotten a small tear.
I'd take him in to the vet for a look as that area can get infected really fast.
