That passage is a reference to hypocritical prayer Jim. It's not a prohibition against letting someone know that you are praying for them. Let's look at the whole passage in context, shall we?
Matthew 6:5 "And whenever you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites, because they love to pray standing in the synagogues, and on the streetcorners, so that they may be seen by men. Assuredly I say to you, that they receive their reward in full. 6 But you, whenever you pray, enter into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in secret; and your Father, who sees in secret, will reward you openly.
Jesus prayed in front of other people...
Luke 3:21 Now when all the people were baptized, and when Jesus also had been baptized and was praying, the heavens were opened, 22 and the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form, like a dove; and a voice came from heaven, "You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased."
See, the Father was well pleased with Jesus who was praying in front of other people. Why don't you want people to pray for you? Are you afraid that the Holy Spirit will convict you and you'll have to make a change in your life?

Matthew 18: 20
"For where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them" (New Revised Standard Edition)
Also, if you read through the new testament, it is almost always referred to in the plural when it mentions prayer - we, they.
But, yes, I shall pray for you, for that is why we are here, to help each other and we all need each other's help and love, the best way we can do this for each other, is by praying.

Good idea but remember there is a difference in Prayer (Asking) than in Assembly, or laying on of hands. Jesus was saying don't make a mockery of praying just to be heard,

We do pray in our rooms, and I can pray for you there. Jesus never inferred that we should never let others know what we are praying for. His point was that the heart of prayer is not to be seen, but is to commune with God.

Just one of the many ways to pray, not the only one,
Of course you know that, and would rather take verses out of context to be harassing.

I guess you find it offensive when someone says they are praying for you. If you sneeze and someone says,"Bless you" do you find it offensive? Take heart, most people that say they are praying for you are just trying to manipulate you. Have a nice day, I will not pray for you.

Ah, Jim....but you bringing yourself to us like that...and mentioning yourself in regard to prayer....reminds me that I need to do it...and I need to put your picture on my altar and keep you close to my heart. Now doesn't that warm your heart right down to your toes!?
