God is evolution? Geez thats pathetic. The most common sign of evolution is a virus. If someone doesnt believe in evolution then dont give them a flu shot every year. One shot should be enough rite?
As far as religious groups go the fear is misguided. They think that science will make people lose their belief in God.
At the same time, believing in the book of Genesis which describes the universe as created by God and good. In other words not to be feared.

The fundamentalist Christian right is so wound up in what they believe that their minds are closed to the concept of evolution. I find it amusing that they can hold on to the idea that the world was created in 7 days, which is a pretty good trick, and reject the idea that life forms evolved over time based on adaptation to the enviroment even if it is proven by science. I, too think that evolution and God can co-exist. Why can't one be a product of the other?

Most people see evolution as a process which doesn't require an anthropomorphic God, and this scares them because they want to think that the Universe was created and exists for reasons related to humankind, and that the Universe will support them and possibly give them an afterlife. A Universe which might be merely a set of physics laws, and not part of some human-related effort, might not do this for them.

Well according to the way the scientific winds are blowing now days, evolution may not be a problem in a few years. Just as soon as an alternative view can be found, evolution will sink into nonsense from whence it came.

What scares so many people about the thought of Creation? My thought is that God created everything. Who are we to say that we understand all that has happened since the beginning of time, or is it just the God thing???

It doesn't scare me, but I have yet to see solid evidence proving it, although there is more evidence for evolution than there is for a mythical God and that the Bible is anything other than the best selling work of fiction in history.

Creationists would then have to admit that the early part of the Bible *wasn't* true. And *then* it would lead to the collapse of the authenticity of the *entire* Bible. It makes it a lot easier if you just interpret the Bible contextually (I think the story of Adam and Eve was allegorical) -- that way I can agree with the theory of evolution.

To me evolution or scientific evidence just shows how God created whatever. To others they may fear that it cancels out God because it's no longer a miracle.

Excellent question. I agree with your philosophy so I can't really answer your question. My guess is that evolution isn't mentioned in the bible or other religious doctrines as far as I know, so to believe in it would be considered wrong.

I agree w/ u. Evolution is God's TRUE creation process, revealed to us through Mr. Darwin, who didn't even know he was a prophet of sorts.
