I live in malaysia. I have a cat.. He's paw is seriously swollen. the left front paw is huge. Please help me. He cannot walk properly.. He has started to lose his appetite. I don't have enough money to send him to the vet. I am still a student. I really love him.. 2 weeks ago.. i gave him a medication for joints and arthritis. Initially, the swelling gets a little bit smaller and he became more active. So, i stop giving him the medicine. Then, the swelling became bigger. So, i gave him that medicine. But the there was no effect. The swelling still huge and he cannot walk or sit properly... The swelling is hard when i tried pressing it. Please help me and tell me how to treat him. I really hope that a veterinarian doctor would answer this answer for the sake of a life of an innocent cat.
If you need the picture of his swollen paw, please email me at john_86_b@yahoo.com . I will definitely send the picture right away to you. Thanks for your kindness

call your local vet and see if they can work out payment arrangements. some will do that, as they don't want your cat to suffer and know that some people can't afford the veterinary cost.

It sounds like there is some kind of infection and if left untreated your cat will suffer. The swelling can cause the blood circulation to that area to slow down and the cat could lose it's foot or worse. I do not want to frighten you by telling you like it is. I'm sure there will be no more than animal lovers on 'Answers' to give you advice - NOT VETS!
There must be some charity near you who can give some assistance, or a payment plan as suggested already. It is very important that you do this in the next 24 hours at least, to help your cat.
I'm sorry but if you have money to come on the Internet then I'm sure you can work something out with a vet. You could borrow some money too, or offer to work for the vet to pay the bill off. BUT GET IT SORTED OUT PLEASE!
The poor cat is suffering and can not tell you of it's pain.

I am not a vet either. See if you can get your cat to let you examine his paw more closely. If not, stick him in a pillowcase with that paw sticking out. Get someone to help you. Eaxmine his paw to see if something is stuck in it causing an infection. Most likely - a piece of glass, a splinter, another cat's tooth or nail, or his own nail has grown too long and is curving back in. If you can remove the object and soak his wounded pay in warm (not hot) water 4-5 times a day. If it is an abcess it should drain. I do not know which antibiotics can be given in what doses to cats. Do NOT put "neosporin" ointment on your kitty's paw, as I heard it could be very toxic.
Repost this question with the leading words" VETS! Help advise me please. It is URGENT!!!"

I am not a vet but i do have pets for as long as i remember.
The thing is that you should go and see your pets vet for propper treatment but however it might be that your cat has a thorn in its paw and it got infected. See if the swelling has changed a skin color and if that is a case it probobly is infection. And again you should go to the vet for a atibiotics. If you can aford it try to loan some money from your friend and pay him back later.

dont give him medication since you do not know what you are treating...
find money somehow or call around to see which vet is cheapest or if their is a charity which can offer help for vet bills.... really you shouldnt own a pet unless you are financially stable and in most places it is a criminal offence to neglect treatment for a sick or injured pet...
you can try putting ice on the paw to reduce the swelling but it sounds more serious..
a vet on internet cannot diagose from a picture - they would need to examine and possibly x-ray

my cat Joe had something like that happen, I took him to the vet who had to take a thorn out of his paw. Your poor cat probably does have something in his paw, it took me about 4 payments to pay the vet, but it is worth is, please take your cat to the vet, I am sure he will come up with a payment plan of some sort.

dude ur all wrong, get it to the vets asap, dont let it suffer, also arrnage a payment plan they aslo dont want the cat to suffer so dont think they wont help u out.
after this cat, i dont think u should get another one until u can afford it and pay for medical costs, its just like a kid, a kid gets sick, and ill we dont let the kid suffer cause we are poor we get them medical attention, but if u cant afford a kid than dont have one, the same goes with the cat.
oh please i hope ur not a father urself.
god save the kid if thats the case.
im not trying to be cruel just the truth and the way i see it.

Call your vet and tell them about the problem and tell them that you don't have the money to pay for treatment, they are always willing to help work out a payment plan for people who really care about their cats! :)
