Diabeties run in my family. I decided to go to a dieticiam and start on a diebeties diet. It help you loose weight also. What I do is make sure that I cut out the bad cholestrol like egg yokes for instance. I switched to 1% milk also. The main thing is to make sure you eat enough protein that matches the carbohydrates that you eat. Egg whites is a great protein source. Example of a breakfast would be: 2 starches, 1 fruit, 1 milk, 1 meat
lunch- 2 starches, 1 fruit, 1 milk 2 vegtables, 2 meat and 2 fats in wanted to.
dinner- 2 starches, 1 fruit, 1 milk, 2 vetables, 3 mats and 2 fats is wanted to.
You can have a snack in between lunch and dinner- 1 starch, fruit, after dinner snack- 2 strarches, Drink lots of water. Now that is just my diet for a 2000 calorie diet.

some examples of starch(1 serving) - 1/2 bagel, 1 slice of bread, 1/2cup corn, 1 small potato
example of milks- 3/4-1cup of yogurt, 1cup of milk,
example of meat- 1oz-beef. 1oz of chicken (no skin), 1oz of fish,1oz of ham, meat substitutes0 1/4 cup cottage cheese, 1oz cheese, 2 egg whites, 1Tbsp peanut butter, 1/4 cup of tuna.

I hope this helps remember this is for a 2000 calorie diet and not right for everyone. This will help you maintain your diet with diebeties. You need to find out what calorie diet is right for you before you start any diet though, but this might help you some. Good luck!!

my dad also have diabetes.he is maintaining the same weight for years, actually this is a good thing that you can maintain the same weight.for losing weight one good simple thing is exercising. but you should first start with light exercises like
walking or jogging for 20 minutes a day & then gradually increasing it to 45 minutes or something. you ca also take a holiday one day a week. and also you should completely stop foods containg fat and cholostrol like pizza, cheese, paneer etc,as, you are a dieabetic i am not mentioning that you should not take food containing sugar or direct sugar except that you can take fruits containing or tasting less sugar like apple, grapes, etc.
one thing that you as a diea betic shouild be careful is that you control your sugar level. taking all this measures i think you can lead a successful like. BEST OF LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The only one in my WHOLE family is my nephew. He was 6 when he was diagnosed and the only explanation was due to STRESS! His parents were going through a nasty divorce and he was caught in the drama. Fortunately my brother has full custody of him, however, the guilt he lives with daily. My nephew is now 16 and is studying to be a chef. His reason, "Diabetic diets don't have to be dull and boring. There needs to be a show on Food Network for those that are diabetic and I'm going to be that chef!" You GO Koty!
Thanks and make sure you stay on track! Health is too precious of a gift to throw aside.
