Yes but, the belief in god is so excepted that psychiatrists unfourtunately won't (and probably can't legally) do anything about it.
"Once we can look at religion objectively and impartially, it becomes entirely obvious that religion has all the characteristics of a form of insanity. To one degree or another the religious mind must accept, and believe in, another world; a supernatural or unnatural world, a world filled with all sorts of imaginary beings called gods, devils, angels, saints, demons, etc. These imaginary creatures are talked to, asked for favors, guidance, "signs", or miracles, and then blamed or thanked for natural events that follow. Except for the cloak of religion, such beliefs and actions would otherwise cause an individual to be judged insane, and committed to an institution for treatment."

The psychic ( Mind) is about the Spirit. If your mind is working over time ,you are Schizo (mad) if it works Slow it is Retarded, No one can read your mind, so a psychic has nothing to do with the Spirit (Mind) . some poweres of suggestion , used by Psychiatry. may help the susceptible. But not the strong willed. Religion is a form of Psychiatry, or brain washing, that has nothing to do with Christianity. Neither, will very often suggest the Anointing of the Lord as a remedy. And this is the only Remedy""

no it is cultural relativity. In most western cultures. God is an acceptable belief system. Aliens are not. Any system of medicine reflects the culture that creates it. Consider breast implants for example. There is a small but significant mortality and morbity associated with any surgical procedure but in our culture we allow this procedure to be done. Other procedures - such as the implantation of electrodes in the pleasure center are not done. It is all relative.

Psychiatrists as a group have the highest suicide rate. I wouldn't be much concerned what they think about either case of mass hypnosis

Yes it does seem a bit more leniant towards religious people, who, by the way, can be just as crazy sometimes.
