i find a connection between the filter tip of a cigrette and the mother's nipple. none of us want to let go of love and when we lose love we in turn resort to gaining it in some way. That's why people smoke. can i be correct?

Most religious people believe that the body is a temple of God. Therefore, anything that would harm or pollute this temple would be a sin.

So really you have two questions.

1 Is smoking a sin?

The answer depends on God. Does he want YOU to be smoking?
If the answer is no, and you are then Yes it's a sin.
If the answer is yes, and you are then No it's not a sin.

2 Why do people smoke.

While thought provoking regarding nipples and love. I think you are over thinking it. Most people start smoking because of peer pressure and/or curiosity. They continue to smoke because of additction, or simply because they want to.

It sounds to me like you are making an argument to justify smoking. In that case, see response to question 1.

Yes Smoking is a Sin. Vedic literature states 4 pillars of Sinful Activity and Intoxication fall in one.
People may have a variety of Reasons for Smoking. You have mentioned one.
But every one understands that Smoking is hurting the Body, and Body does not belong to Us. Body is given by God. Hence it belongs to him and should be used in his services.
Hence destroying the body by exploitation is Sin.
If you don't believe in Sin ..still any doctor will tell you that Smoking is wrong ... So when Doctor is so intelligent, how much more God, the creator of Doctor's Brain should be ?...Why will he not want to save his children from this ?

I don't think it's a sin. Paul said that things are permissable, but not everything is beneficial. However it is horrible for you, and even worse for the people around you. If you're being inconsiderate when you're smoking (i.e. exposing your children to secondhand smoke, smoking when you're pregnant or around a pregnant person, etc), I think that is a sin.

Technically SMOKING isn't a sin, but KILLING people by passive smoking is a sin. I don't think that your theory might be so true or... I'm not sure. It could be. Anyway, sucking on a cancerstick kills you and damage other peoples health. Do not forget that!

Well, I wouldn't say that there is a connection. People smoke because it is portrayed as cool and that you aren't a member of society unless you smoke. Then there is the matter of addiction. Drugs don't cause addiction. We do.

Tell some manly Marlboro man that he is sucking on his momma's nipple and he will smack you good. I have to admit you made me chuckle. So now I know, that is why people smoke. You don't think that there could possibly be another reason, do you?
