Better to have some discomfort now than have crooked teeth later in life. I have crooked teeth and I'd give anything to go back to my childhood and get braces.
Check into Invisalign, that might be less traumatic than braces.

Well, first of all , braces look cool. Almost everyone i've seen getting braces have nice smiles- even better than they do without it. I am so sure you'll have even more of a pretty smile with the metal braces. Yes it is going to hurt. Try to listen to the rules the dentist/ orthodontist tells you; if you break one of their rules, you may be in for more pain. Also try not to focus on the pain. Think about how much worser it could be; for example you could have gum disease or somethin. THat would hurt much more than braces and is more of a hastle. Also think about how the braces will make your smile even more pretty after you take them off. So taking the braces is worth it. This'll give you courage to overcome your fears.

My son is 14 and just got his braces off. And I can only tell you about his experience.
Does it hurt... The level of pain will be different for every one but yes it's going to hurt but at the same time probably not that bad and a couple of advil or asprin should take care of most of the pain. So the pain is not that big of a factor. It's not going to be fun but at the same time it's not that bad. My son describes the pain kind of like a pulled muscle when you work out too hard. The main thing to remember is the more you can relax and just open your mouth without stressing and straining against what they are trying to do the less it will hurt.
The thing he really didn't like was just not being able to have all the things he liked... like gum. But again it's temporary.
And in the end his teeth came out GREAT. It really is worth it and your pretty smile will look even better.
Don't be afraid but it's smart to be causious about anything just work to understand before you do stuff.

Whatever it takes, if you do need braces, do it now, or whenever it is most appropriate. Once the braces do finally come off, you should never have to worry about them again. The slight discomfort is easier to put up with now then it would be later on in life. Being a little scared is normal, but braces really aren't that big a deal. If you need them, get them. Wouldn't worry about it much.

You should talk to a dentist or orthodontist to get exact answers on how long you need braces. Most people have them 6 months to 2 years. Others need them 4 years.
You shouldn't be afraid to get them. It depends on what is needed to be done whether they hurt a lot. The first thing that you will find is some discomfort due to the braces in the mouth. You get wax to put on the braces under the sore spots in your mouth. That makes the pain go away.
Once you begin treatment, there are coping strategies like eating softer foods for a couple days after they tighten up the braces.
Not every time you go do they have to tighten you up, so it won't be every time that you have to resort to softer foods.

If you have pretty teeth, why do you need braces? Anyway, braces are a little uncomfortable at first but the kids love them. Now that it is "cool" to have "bling" in your mouth, braces are sort of like a fad. My daughter had them and would get the bands to match her school colors. I will not be untrue and say they are not uncomfortable, they are. The end result is way worth it.

Well I have several friends that had braces, even though I thought I needed them I never did have them. Well no you shouldn't be scared of them really. Although I should tell you, there is a bit of pain involved, but its not terribly bad, its tollerable, its just kind of hard to eat the first couple of weeks.

It's going to hurt the first few day and everytime the dentist adjusts the braces. But the rest of the time they don't hurt at all, and don't worry about your pretty teeth, they'll only get more beautiful.

You will be fine, braces aren't the end of the world. They do make clear ones you know.
