Chikungunya is a virus spread by mosquitoes.
The best prevention is to keep the immune system healthy and taking proper precautions:
*by eating a healthy diet with mostly raw vegetables and fruit
*avoid bannanas though as they attract mosquitoes
*wear long pants and socks with closed shoes during mosquito *season
*drinking 6-8 glasses of clean water every day will clear the elimination system and help prevent or eliminate the virus quicker if infected
*eliminating table salt and adding sea salt to salt foods will mineralize the body and improve toxin elimination threrefore improving the immune response
* avoiding dairy as dairy plugs up the elimination system
* avoid wheat product if the virus infection is coming on
*use catnip, rosemary, and neem oil to spray on exposed areas
(I would add lavender for aroma improvement)
*make a bath with the above essential oils,
*avoid going out of doors during the greatest risk times at dusk and dawn, or at least cover the legs, arms, and feet during the early moring and evening
*eliminate standing water in your area
*put a few drops of neem oil or catnip oil in pools of water to prevent eggs from hatching
* and I would drink juice with a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar and a dash of cinnamon and cayenne three time a day if I had the virus
* I would also add one drop of wild oregano oil to a shot glass of carrot juice or some other strong juice if I was fully infected,
*Amp up on Vitamin C, Vitamin E, and try Golden Seal
*Drink green tea
*avoid sugary drinks and alcohol,
* bathe with unscented soap and shampoo to avoid attracting mosquitoes
*I would also drink unsweetened fruit juice or vegetable juice with
a teaspoon of raw apple cider vinegar with a dash of cayenne, turmeric, and cinamon to provide good flora and PH balance to speed up recovery.
*If you have access to the herb Boneset herb also called comfrey, knitbone, Snake Root, and blackwort, it is a very good anti-inflamatory.

The mosquito species that transmits the Chikungunya virus is the Aedes albopictus, commonly known as the Asian tiger mosquito or forest mosquito. There being no vaccine or preventive drug for chikungunya at present, the best way to avoid the infection is to control the mosquito population in the region and prevent mosquito bites.

Last year, several members of the Iowa State University Department of Entomology presented the results of a study on common catnip. Among their conclusions was the fact that an essential oil in catnip is 10 times more effective at repelling mosquitoes than potent chemicals such as DEET.
