Therapy. There's a certain field of therapy that deals with phobias.

You're not crazy for fearing rain or storms, neither is dede that posted an answer here. Many people have phobias of one kind or another. The trick is to find out what causes the fear. After that's found out, you confront it, BUT in a very very safe environment. Never endanger yourself.

I was afraid of the sounds of storm when I was a kid. I'd go hide. I finally out grew it thankfully, some people don't.

There is no shame in it, it just is what it is. Me, I'm afraid of heights, but have confronted that fear and I don't let it control me...I control it.

I would suggest looking for a good therapist that can help you work through all this. It will better your quality of life and you will not have to be a captive of your own fears any longer.

I used to have this problem too. In the second grade we had a tornado warning and a teacher made the HUGE mistake of saying in front of all of us kids that they said there was a tornado right around the corner. After that I was incredibly scared at the slightest inkling that there might be a storm. If it got cloudy I would immediately start crying and this only became progrssively worse. If forth grade, I was at the worst state when storms occured. I couldn't even focus during TAKS testing (standardized testing) because it was raining that day. Just normal drizzle too. SO one day the Title One teacher (counselor of sorts) told me that her daughter used to have the same problem, but then she got a worry-rock. Then she gave me a worry rock and told me to keep it with me and just rub it whenever I felt afraid and as long as i stayed focused on the rock, I wouldn't be so scared. After awhile it really helped and after that year I no longer needed the rock to stay from getting scared. In really bad weather (especially hurricanes and thunderstorms) I still sometimes get a little nervous, but that is normal for people to naturally be afraid of storms. I suggest that you get a worry rock of some sort (a worry object) and if bad weather comes up just have it with you and focus on the object. It may take a little while but it should help. Good luck!!! I really hope this helped!!

I guess the key is to figure out where the fear came from... then deal with it. Another thing that helps is exposing yourself to it, in small amounts, maybe with a friend who you trust, lightning is one of the most beautiful things to watch. As for rain :)... it brings life and renewal... its amazing... one day you will also be able to enjoy these wonders of God and nature.

It's nature. When the rain and storm are coming the evil will get aways.
