There is nothing to be done but avoid it. Ask if restaurant items contain garlic. Pass when your family makes items containing garlic.
And by "allergic", do you mean you have a reaction either in a skin irritation, your throat closes up, and you have difficulty breathing? If so, that is allergic. If you jsut get heartburn or an acid stomach, or burp garlic for a few hours, that is NOT allergic. Take a Pepcid and just eat it.

"so many foods have garlic in them" because it tastes good! How do you know you are allergic? Perhaps you suffered a food poisoning incident and attributed it to the garlic; some people are allergtic to foods prepared in a certain way. Maybe the garlic wasn't cooked through (I react to raw garlic but not cooked). Has your allergy been verified by a medical test? Perhaps it's something else usually cooked with garlic.

People cook with garlic cause it gives a certain good flavor buuut a really bad breath, so either you don't eat food with garlic, if you're at home tell your mum to make a small portion of the food she's cooking for you without garlic, at a restaurant tell them to remove the garlic.

Look into a program called colonic treatment. Research it first. 15 times in 30days is the way to go. After that get tested for the allergy. I am not making any guarantees, but I was allergic to shellfish for 20 years now I eat anything I want. Plus you will look and feel better even if you are still allergic to garlic. its a win win thing.

Life's to short to sweat the small stuff.
Drink an anti-garlic potion and eat up.

Cook your own meals. There is no garlic added to homecooked whole foods if you dont want it to be.
