Just be sure to get the whole tick. Sometimes they burrow in so deep. it's hard to get them out. I know what you mean, I'm in Upstate NY and the ticks and really bad this year. In fact, my son picked up lyme Disease last month. Antibiotics for 3 months. Ticks are bad news.

Petsmart or Petco both sell a tool to remove ticks from your pet. It looks like a measuring spoon and has a slit in it. You scoop it around the tick, the spoon part of it holds the body while the slit part narrows so much it grasps the neck and head of the tick. Yank it out, problem solved. This tool can also be used on other animals as well as people. Frontline has been working for all of my animals.

Grab tick as close to the skin as possible & twist. Check to make sure you get the head. Clean bite with a bit alcohol & keep an eye on it.

Frontline Plus works on ticks. And it is a common misunderstanding that these products (Advantage, Advantix, Frontline, Frontline Plus) enter the bloodstream. They don't. That is why they are safe to use on pregnant dogs. Much safer for you and your dog than sprays, dips, flea collars, etc.

If you have flea & tick spay, and it's not near the face, then you can spray the tick. That will kill it in minutes and then pull it off.
Frontine and Advantix are sold by vets and do work.
I use an otc called Bio Spot. Less expensive, sold at pet stores, and it works. I've used it on all my and all the rescues I've had for over ten yrs. Do not use Hartz, it has caused a lot of problems in dogs and it doesn't work very well.

Pour some soap on the tick, cover it. Take a cotten ball put some soap on it and hold it against the tick for 15-20 seconds remove the cotton ball and the tick should be in it.

the best and most sure way is to use ur fingers (or tweezers if u MUST) make sure u get the whole thing, turn and pull. if u dont grab the whole theing part of it might still be in there so check on it after a few days.
to dispose dont light it on fire. it does not dispose the tick. place it in a baggy-close it- then bring it outside to a garbage can
good luck!

Quick remedy is to use a drop of rubbing alcohol. The tick can't breath and it will pull its head out right away. Make sure you destroy it afterwards though. I usually flush it down the toilet, but make sure it flushes or it'll come back to haunt you!
I use tea tree oil (available in any pharmacy) as a flea and tick repellent. Mix it in your pet shampoo and conditioner if you use one. It works great and smells good too!

Frontline works well, but remember you're putting the chemicals into the bloodstream of your dog. Garlic powder on the food will also work and it's all natural. God bless & Good luck.

use tweezers. grab the tick by the head as close to the dog's skin as possible and gently but firmly pull it off. don't grab it by the body. usually, once i have removed one, i flush it down the toilet to make sure it's really gone.
