It is true that there are discrepencies. Thankfully it does not say in one place, "thou shalt not kill" and in another place, "thou shalt not fill".

Nehemiah quotes from a recovered genealogical record. Ezra does not, he does not say where he got his information from. These two list could have been compiled at different dates. If so, the numbers would be different because some of the young men may be counted or not counted because of their age.
This discrepancy does not shake my faith in Jesus the Christ one bit. There are instances in the New Testament where women and children are counted in some reports and not in others. I will not lose sleep over this. This Bible you seek to discredit has withstood several hundred years of intense critical and scholarly examination. I don't think you can put a dent in it.

You should be interested in the Core substance in the scriptures, If how many were the desendants of whom is of interest than you are wasting your time. Nehemiah & Ezra were two different Prophets who wrote. With an open Mind and in Faith just read the bible and see it alive and in action like in the book of acts. " You will walk on snakes & Scorpions" " You will heal and raise up the dead in Jesus's Name"
Just take a Faith Leap Khalid, if youlack faith just ask & it shall be given unto you.

ZATTU
(Zat´tu).
Forefather of a large family that returned to Jerusalem with Zerubbabel in 537 B.C.E. (Ezr 2:1, 2, 8; Ne 7:13) When Ezra came to Jerusalem some of their descendants dismissed the foreign wives they had taken. (Ezr 10:10, 11, 27, 44) Shortly thereafter, a representative of this family, or someone else named Zattu, sealed the “trustworthy arrangement.”—Ne 9:38; 10:1, 14.
