That is why it is pointless to get into a discussion about religion.
Unless you're in the mood for arguing, you can't change anyone's mind. Or get them to understand another point of view.
According to people like that, their belief system is the ONLY truth, and everyone else is misguided, at best.

No more than using a single quote from a single source, totally ignoring the multitude of other quotes from other authorities which demonstrate open thought, let alone whole branches of Christianity which study the veracity of Bible verse and keep open the questions that you seem to agree need asking.

Why is it you ignore all these? Why are you not open-minded enough to accept the possibility that many DO have open minds, but choose to believe in the absence of proof otherwise? Oh, I don't mean the literal interpretation of the Bible. Christians, for the most part, are way past that, unlike a couple of other religions, but it is extremely closed-minded to take an extremist quote and put it up as if it represents the totality of Christian thought on the issue.

What other document or opinion did you have in mind?
It may be that it is a narrow opinion, but it could also be right! On the other hand, let's say you wanted to fly from Minneapolis to Houston. There is a path that you take assigned for you by the traffic controller. If you were listening in, how would it make you feel if the ATC told the pilot that he can choose which path, height and bearing to take to get to Houston? How about letting the pilot pick which runway to land on and when?
We really can't conceive how much of a disaster this would look like with planes crashing into each other in the air and on the ground.

2+2 = 4. I don't care what any document says or what any other opinion is. Does that make me closed minded? The truth is the truth. I have come to realize that the Bible is true for many reasons. It took many years, many mistakes, and the grace of God for me to come to that awareness. I know that God exists and that the Bible is true with the same certainty that I know that 2+2=4.

Regarding morals: it is only because there is a God that there are morals. Things are only moral or immoral because God says they are. If there was no God, there would only be "preferences"

The Truth is The Truth , this being the way it is , no matter what someone is talking about . When you have the Truth, what else do you need? With that said, I do evaluate archaelogical and other evidence related to the Bible. So far, I have not found anything to disprove it as the truth. I did doubt once due to evolution, but found information outside of the Bible that convinced me of God's design and plan.

What is interesting about the bible is that people primarily use it to justify their own immoral or amoral behavior, while at the same time using it to condemn others.

Especially fundie Christians (bible thumpers).


There is no credible, objectively verifiable evidence supporting any of the bible myths, including the Jesus myths.
