From the perspective of Physicists, the world is a hologram; a dream.

We and everything which we consider as real are patterns of a little bit of energy with mostly empty space in between.

Light is energy. When light hits and "object", it is bounced off of that object and in to our eyes which then send the light (via electrical signal) in to our brain, which interprets the electrical signal and forms an image in our mind; again using more electricity.

When we "touch" something, the nerves (electrical receptors) in our skin are excited by the interaction with what we are "touching" (little bit of energy and mostly empty space." The nerves then send the "sensation of touch" as an electrical signal to be processed by our brain, a electrically based super computer.

Our experience of the world is based on how our brain interprets the information it receives. Energetic patterns in our brains are formed through the interaction of our electrical receptors (nerves) and the energies outside of our "bodies" (patterns of energy flowing through empty space.

So, is the world real?

Yes, but only in our minds.

the world is real to materialist mind set ,but when understood with an enlightened mind it appears as a long dream, like when a dreamer believes a dream to be a real experience until he wakes up and realizes temporariness of the dream which was a creation of the mind(illusion),the same can be said of the waking experience with right knowledge this too appears as a dream

You can never prove that your life is or is not a dream. One can only choose to be enlightened and believe there is nothing real, or by choice believe that things are real. The enlightened view holds that all of what we consider things and people are of no importance, because they are of no substance. My less enlightened view holds that the immense value of things is self-evident, and that nothing can ever be said to lessen the importance of the death of a human being. As long as i feel grief, i will know that human beings are of immesurable value, and therefore have a substance, and existence outside the mere illusions of my mind. Though it is possible to be skeptical about this view, it is impossible to disprove, and i choose to believe it.

If it a dream then when we die the dream will end. If it is a fact then when we die we will stop experiencing the fact.

The physical world is a hologram, with the software our thoughts. It's an illusion, not a reality.

Life is but a dream. We won't really start living until after we die and get our immortal bodies.

nope, this world is real all right. if it wasn't our thoughts and beliefs would have far more influence on the physical world and objects wouldn't be terribly stable
