Perplexing is correct. The $8.10 package is no weight limit, but it is a fairly small sized box (you can send snacks and magazines but not really any clothing or any large items). Make certain you put your boyfriend's APO number on the package and fill out the label just like he gives you. That way, even though you are mailing to Iraq you will still be charged domestic rates.
You should be careful, you are not supposed to put any pork products (check the labels for jerky and tinned meats, etc) because Iraq is ruled in part under Islamic law.
Try looking for Soldiers Angels on Yahoo! they have a list of things you can send. I have been involved for over a year, and it has been a very rewarding experience. By taking care of your boyfriend, volunteers can put their efforts towards other soldiers who are not as fortunate as your boyfriend to have someone who cares about him.
Oh, and you should not send chocolate or candy that will melt during the summer, it gets over 120 degrees there.

The Post Office offers a Priority Mail fixed-price box (just pick one up at your PO) for $8.10, no weight limit. Priority Mail will get the package to the Military Mail quickly, from there on, it's up to them. Packages I've mailed to a family member in Iraq have usually taken 2-3 weeks for delivery. GOOD LUCK!

on an average its usually no more than 10.00. but it depends on the box you use. call your local post office and let them know you have a loved one going over seas through the military. they will deliver to your house different types of boxes, tape, and forms for free to use for your care packages.

You only have to pay postage to get it to New York. Other than that, it's however much the stuff in it costs.
