Depending on the situation, some women hide their handbags:
-- to avoid theft in places like restaurants, where their attention is diverted by food and conversation
--because the purses might not be needed, so they're put away or at least put out of plain sight

I no longer have handbags...it was too tiring hiding them all the time...there is STUFF in there you carry as a woman, that you would not want anyone to SEE... like pads, condoms, tanpoms, creams, make-up, medicine, pepper spray, change, notes, rebate receipts, old pens, dried raisins, business cards from realtors, etc, and so on.... not COOL. :oD

I HIDE BCOZ I HAVE CHAAKU[KNIFE] IN MY HANDBAG.....IF SOMEONE SPOTS IT,THEY'LL TAKE IT FROM ME....AND KILL ME.....
