His antics to get Rooney sent off ruined the dreams of ferdinand and neville who will not get another chance at the World Cup. Not to mention that Rooney wll notbe pleased this morning.

Can the United player ever forgive him?

I asked something similar earlier - it is going to be very interesting to see how the Man U fans react to him - that will be the key to whether he stays or goes. Fans of the other teams will not matter so much as not many like him anyway as he has a reputation for being a diver and a wind-up-merchant already.

They haven't got on for a while... and Ronaldo is probably leaving Man Utd very soon anyway - before the start of the season.

Rooney did go in hard and commit a foul and push Ronaldo away. I'm not saying what Ronaldo did was right because it wasn't, but the fact is that Rooney should have been sent off.

Firstly i agree that every player in the world will play for there country without putting there team mates feelings into it! every player should! but ronaldo influenced the referee to give rooney a red card! the referee should of stopped the game when the two players were on rooneys back pulling at his shirt!
Secondly after rooney got sent off - ronaldo walked off and winked to the manager and other players! now please tell me if im wrong but he winked at them for a reason! the reason being he got rooney sent off - as planned! there biggest fear of all was our golden boy! and i think rooney shouldn`t be judged for how he reacted. he is our best player! and i truely hope that one day ronaldo will get no more than what he deserves! i hope man utd send him packing because england will hate him forever for what he did! And ill be supporting france on wednesdays game!

I think so, Im a man u fan and you have to accept that sometimes country comes before club.
If the world cup isnt one of those times then i don't know what is!
Rooney needs to be a man and take responsibility for what he did wrong

I personally hope he stays at Man Utd, just so he can receive the treatment he deserves from fellow 'pros' and referees in the Premier League. Ronaldo after all showed his total lack of respect for his own team mate at Man Utd, so perhaps, players in the Premier League will dish the same out to him and the referees will hopefully turn a blind eye. Then maybe Ronaldo can turn tail and go running off, Chanel bag on arm.

The referee did not see Rooney stamp on the portugese player on the floor....he could not have seen it. What he reacyed to, and you can see it clearly, was Ronaldo's push, and Ronaldo goading the ref to book him.

Several times Ronaldo remonstrated with the ref to get a player booked, and dived all over the place, and yet he was never booked or cautioned for it...????

I thought they were clamping down on this behaivour..?

Anyone who acts any differently towards him than before is an idiot.
The man was playing for his country & I am sure that any English player would have done the same as he did if they knew of a Portuguese player who was immature enough to rise to the bait.
I am quite sure that Alec Ferguson will have words with everyone & will severely punish any person who steps out of line.

Reverse the situation, say Beckham takes a dive and Spain are down to 10 men... nah.. forget it, Beckham's useless and AC Milan don't want him anyway !

All these players dive, they're coached to dive, and until FIFA really wants to stop it they will do whatever they can to milk frees / penalties / cards... unfortunately that's a part of the professional game.

C. Ronaldo is talented and the management want him. they'll figure it out. Of course the fans won't be as forgiving !

There is an English tradition of subjective point of view by sensible behavior of the island people psychology, they probably remember the World Cup events and confuse them to their league which should be left in Germany - 2006.
