Well as an American that grew up in Ohio, and who has a few chances to talk and work with Canadians, I can say from personal experience that most of our neighbors to the north are more liberal and more open to differences in culture. They are also more willing to give their government a free hand in running their lives. They have a state run media and a state run medical system and a state run education system.
Well anyone who has spent any amount of time at the DMV (Now the BMV in allot of places) this should sound a bit scary. State run media can turn into propaganda right quick. State run medican is great, just don't get old.
The only thing that i support is state run education. This insures that all of it's citizens that wish to go to college can. I think that is a great boost.
In the end i can say this. The Canadian people are wonderful. The best neighbors and allies one could ask for. We as Americans are supremely lucky to have them next to us. Their way of life is very much like ours and we enjoy the company of each other, for the most part. We butt heads from time to time but that only keeps us both honest.
To me Canada is a home for part of my family. And i see Canada as just that. In a world full of enemies and hate mongers it's great that we as a nation have such a good brother as Canada.
Now only if we could get them to say Z properly.

The only differences between ANYBODY from different countries are really minor...things like fashion sense, and whether or not you eat your potatoes boiled or baked. All of that is so insignificant, but if you're just looking at behavioral trends, I would say that Americans seem more gregarious than Canadians, whereas Canadians seem more civic minded as far as social issues go. But these are gross generalizations and should not be taken as gospel truth. None of this makes one group better than another, nor should it. In fact, all it really says is what neighborhood on Planet Earth you grew up in.

I'm American first off. Americans don't spend much time thinking about Canadians. Hell, Americans don't spend much time thinking about any other nationality than Americans. The one thing I can say categorically about Canadians is that as a whole they are more socially minded about issues - they tend to think about collective solutions as a society to issues, where as Americans are much more individualistic. But most Americans barely realize Canadians exist. You'd have to ask the Canadians what they think of Americans, I'm not going to answer for them. But I'm betting you're going to get some sore responses.

Well first off Americans are far Superior in almost every aspect of life. canadians are unfortunatley, extermley lazy people. They also have a universal health care systme which we all know doesnt work as you have to wiat for 3 hours to see a doctor for 2 minutes.
canada is home to such world famous celebriteis as tom green and the non funny joey gladstone from full house. th ebest thing to come form canada would be the mullet. It is also rumored that homesexuality started in canada.
canadans use worthless canadian money that has pictures of children playing hockey on the back.
canada is also home to the world famous mountme's. the are so technologicly advanced that they patrol their area on horses and not with cars.
The cell phone has yet to come to canada. They must use 2 empty cans and a piece of string to communicate long distances.
canadians are also famous for having no spine in international matters. they are constantly made fun of and generally considered a third world country.

I'm not sure how Canadians feel towards those who live in the U.S. ( People, we are all Americans from Cananda all the way down to Argentina ) but many of those who live in the U.S. admire their health care system and actually go to Canada to obtain prescription drugs... I would also point out that Canadians are less violent... In the movie by Michael Moore "Bowling for Columbine" he compares gun violence statistics between the U.S. and Canada... they have far less gun shootings that result in death each year... just about every other country has less gun shootings that result in death than we do here in this nation.

Forti and Crzy made a lot of good points. I am all for less government, but it seems to work better in Canada.
I am gonna piss some people off; but, I think it has to do with the citizenry. You cannot make a silk purse out of a pigs ear.
I hate big government in the States, because of the degradadtion of the work ethic, and generally how people treat another here. Everybody wants something for free, and I am tired of paying for it. If the majority contributed it would not be so bad.
Liberal ideals seem to be more "realistic" in Canada.
Call me crazy but thats how I see it.

Well are we talking people. Then there is no difference people are pretty much the same wherever you go. Most people just want to live their lives in relative peace(People in countries like US, Canada, UK, Etc. have it better as their people are free), they want a better life for their kids, etc. Politics is all that is different. We have our government set up by our founding fathers laying out out rights and freedoms and Canada like the UK is set up on a socialist idea of government.

You live in a colder climate. I can't say anymore that your country has more languages than be do, we've been invaded. Politically we are trying to tear ourselves apart. At one time Canada attempted to do that over language. We all do our own foolishness.
