what's with the US gov. and UFOs?

There's this (more or less) known fact that the US gov. is hiding information about UFOs.. that UFOs crashed, appeared, dissapeared in the US... why the UFOs special interest in the US and the US Gov.?

OK, everyone knows about all that stuff, it's nothing new. Please use the term 'flying saucer' and not UFO. A UFO is an unidentified flying object. A bug can be a UFO, a weird cloud can be a UFO. Flying saucers are crafts that were not made by human hands with may be piloted by beings who do not originate from the Earth's surface.
The interest is part of the Cold War paranoia and push to out-pace the Russians in advancements. Finding crafts and tools and materials used by a more advanced civilization could, potentially, mean success in this goal. Next to 'sex', 'UFO' is the most searched term on the Web in the US. The ironic thing is that we ignore the wealth of cultural exchange our own world offers and we don't seem to realize how such an open exchange would damage our own culture. Who would want to go to university on Earth, when higher education from a much more advanced culture could be available. People might begin to see their own culture as trivial. There are always problems when two cultures that are far enough apart technologically interact. Look at the various interactions between America and the Native Americans throughout our nation's short history. It is to our benefit that the non-Terrans do not have our primate instincts.

It is my guess that the USA Government is utilising the technolgy with the discovery of the UFO crash in Roswell to their advantage by disclaiming its existance. This helps the US keep ahead of the rest of the world with the discovered technolgy and so in return give them the advantage of being the worlds police service. In many ways this is a good thing but on the negtive it gives them control. Wether this is a good thing or not I still am not sure as I belive all knowledge should be shared for the betterment of mankind.

I think you wrong in hearing things. There is nothing connection between Us gov and ufo. But I'm little bit sure in the connection betweet UFO and NASA. Since NASA is the one who is hiding every activies of their research done in late 60s and 70s. They succesfully lunched space craft in moon with human. How they get that type of technology in that time??? So, I think there is serious connection betweet UFO and NASA.

If it were released that we had encountered aliens and have their craft (which I believe we do), there would be mass panic amoung most people. Looting and rioting and violence. And religious people would freak out. The Bible never specifically says that there aren't other civilizations though.
