Dear Penelope I am so sorry you are having to undergo the excruiating pain of a rotator cuff. No one really knows how much it hurts unless they have actually been through it. It takes from 6 weeks to 6 months to heal. Then many of fellow sufferers have shared with me that it never completely heals, because we often keep re-injuring it (even during sleep). So then we would say it can take years. Mine took over 5 yrs. to be completely back to normal. However when the weather changes the old dull pain still returns. I think hydro (swim) or suana therapy might be the best in terms of speeding up the process of healing. I also learned the hard way that taking ''pain-killers,'' does not work in the long run..."then the bite (addiction to pain-killers) is not worth the cure. The Ancients put warm river rocks (wrapped in a cloth) on the tear, took deep breaths of incoming healing energies, exhaled the pain, and played music to finally lull you into sleep where those healers on the "other-side" could work on it. For example, inner healers using accupuncture which is effective as well as other forms of ''flow'' body-work therapy. I send you the most positive thoughts possible for your endurance during the healing process. e-mail: kunndunn@Yahoo.com

my dad tore his rotator cuff twice. i don't remember the exact length of time but he couldn't play basketball for a long time. i think it depends on how bad it has been torn. get surgery.
