HOW TO PLAY?
when will these big headed egotistical prats known as proffessional footballers learn that there is no I in team and stopp wasting shots over the cross bar. Cole Gerrard Lampard all wanted to be hero's with a stunning goal but how many failed attempts? when will we learn patience and SKILL?

In order for theses professional players to behave like team members instead of a series of one-man bands, we & the media need to stop treating them like gods.
We place them on pedestals & bow before them, then when they act like they are more important individually than the team, we blame them.
We are the ones at fault. these guys are footballers, not brain surgeons. If they stopped playing tomorrow no-one would die, the world would keep turning. We are the ones who have made these players into the egotistical idiots they are today.
After all IT IS ONLY A GAME.

One last thing, why did you feel the need to mention the Irish & Scottish teams? We are all aware they did not qualify just like we are aware England did not win.

You make a very valid point and have touched upon the key factor in the whole England approach. Can I take the argument perhaps one step further by saying.......

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA

and I think I speak for a lot of Irish supporters there.

TOTALLY agree, complete wasted opportunities through personal ego. Also, why isn't it just basic training not to show aggression on the field after the whistle has been blown?

its all about fundamentals. the team that took care of the penalty kicks won out, the English players clearly looked tired and nervous. while the Portugese took care of business. sad to see it end on penalties though.
