It depends how far they've travelled. Long distances they should always be offerred water every few hours. Short trips there shouldn't be any interruption in their routine. Long trips a stall with paddock turnout for a couple days, plenty of hay and water. If he's hot when unloading (or any other time) don't allow large amounts of cold water. A couple gallons then walk him for a bit then a couple gallons more until he's cool.
