i dont see why not if they accept u as a friend and u are straight, then why not accept them even though they are lesbians. I mean it is not a persons sexual preference that makes them a good or a bad friend or a good or bad person. I mean who are we to judge what another person may want to do with her own life that does not mean that she is not a good friend. I have a lot of lesbian and gay friends also and they seem to be a lot more understanding and compassionate than my straight friends are. As long as they are not forcing their sexual preference onto you then i do not see why that should affect a friendship.

That's an interesting question to ask. Ever since I came out, I've had difficulty starting friendships with other women -- particularly in high school. There is a common misconception which many heteros seem to have, that if you are attracted to people of their gender, you are automatically going to be attracted to them.

And personally, I think that attitude is absolutely pathetic. How anyone can be egotistical enough to jump to this conclusion about anyone else, regardless of gender or sexual orientation, I don't know.

But I have had all sorts of girls (in whom I was not interested in the slightest) do everything from buttoning up their shirts to bolting in sheer terror at the sight of me.

On the other hand, my lesbian and bisexual friends have been some of the most beautiful, caring people I have known (not all of them, everyone is only human, and queers can be bastards too :) ). The main difference I find is that they are at least a little more open minded than most people because they have been forced to question society's 'norms' while questioning and identifying their own sexuality. (** Clarification: Yes, there are still many closed-minded gay/lesbian/bi people. People are still individuals and difficult to generalise upon.)

That having been said, every sexual orientation has people who will **** anything that walks. These people will not make good friends, I think that goes without saying.

So until girls like you learn to get over yourselves, I will continue pursuing friendships with men...

Peace

*** Update: Sagar, lesbians /are/ human beings. I'm not sure if you're trying to make an attack, or if you genuinely think that gays are not human?

What's wrong of them? They hurt you? They cheat you? They laugh at you? If they didnt, why they can't be your friends? Just because of they are lesbians? I think to choose friends that is based on their characters and personality and not their life style or interest.

Sure. I got lesbian friends. They're great. I'm thinking about dumping all my straight friends.

Okay, let me get this straight:

You have many friends
They are all lesbians
And you don't know if you should be their friend?

Frankly, in this day and age, I'd count yourself lucky to have "many" friends regardless of sexual persuasion and if you don't know if you want to be their friend based on them being "lesbians" - they might be better off without you!

If they are truly your friends there sexuality shouldn't make a difference to you. Just make sure they know that you aren't a lesbian.

a friend is a friend.. no matter if he's gay or not
it's about his character
