Inability to contruct a fully functioning TEAM out of the rich talent available in the Pemier League. Lack of confidence in the manager also being part of this, perhaps.

Because Portugal were the better team.
You will notice I said TEAM. England's side was too full of individual egos to gel properly as a team.
Having said that, I think they played better & more as a team after Rooney was sent off. Maybe too much emphasis was put on getting them all passing to Rooney & once he had gone they could concentrate on the game.
The team did not need his childish carry on anyway. Even if Ronaldo did wind him up there was still no excuse for that sort of behaviour.

because england played a lowsy first half, rooney thought it a good idea to kick someone in the groin, and ricardo is a better goalkeeper than the english guy (don't know his name).
i just saw the match (with some minutes cut off to fit in the alotted time) and i am curious... what is this cheating i hear about? i saw nothing resembling cheating...
and if i recall correctly, england had more than twice as many fouls as portugal, so saying portugal played dirty may be a bit of a misconstruction...

I guess Portugal played better. Simple as that.
Besides, Portugal is not just any team. They were in the Euro 2004 final, and...where exactly was England then??

no longer after Beckham and Rooney went! different gamers did so lots greater proper than that they had in an prolonged long term! yet this is foot ball for you! they have continually been undesirable at effects and Ricardo stored 3! they could desire to have gained it till now it have been given to that degree. It replaced into somewhat astonishing to be certain England play to boot as they did minus Beckham and Rooney! Lennon almost scored some circumstances too! Had a similar team (2nd a million/2) been on for the time of this international cup then i've got little doubt that they could have completed so lots greater proper, their self belief could have grown and that they could have been almost unbeatable. element approximately foot ball isn't in basic terms some interest plan yet opportunities that must be taken and quite luck to boot!

Thats easy... Portugal is much a better team despite Deco is not playing... i guess you have to accept the fact that England.. DON'T have a calibre striker like they use to have in the like of Gary Lineker etc.. sorry lad.. try again in South Africa..

I just think it's funny because everyone thought the game would be handed to England yet looked what happened.

The simple answer to that is, They were just not good enough.and like so many times before, just cannot take penalty kicks. I am sorry to say it but their performance during the whole tournament was just not up to world class standard, they should return home with their heads hung in shame.
