because there's a stupid double standard in our society. it's okay for women to be close and to hug so the idea of them getting closer isn't that strange, men however are supposed to be tough and the stereotypical gay guy is very feminine and well, a pussy. not that there aren't guys like this, but the reason this is the stereotype is because if any one who makes the stereotype saw a non-feminine gay guy he would never know it. so gay guys are looked down on because they're not though like guys are supposed to be.
and transvestites? if being close to guys is bad putting on women's clothes and acting like one is that much worse.
i guess as a society we look down on women which why for a guy to be feminine is such a bad thing.

I dont know where do you come from but I dont see any huge difference when it comes to being homosexual regardless lesbians, trannies or gays..acceptance-wise! If you are gay.. you are and if people wont accept you, no matter how much you try or do..they wont!
Hyprocritical, insecure, prejudice, ignorance and bias by society occurs at any levels and if 2 females kissing each other or make out and turn the society on especially straight men..try Rosie Odonnel and her partner! Eat that! It is all mere fantasy but Hollywood glamourized take it to the next levels like in Basic Instinct/porn movies etc.
The fact is in every level of lifestyles and socities, some men/women are hot some are not that hot. Some can accept and majority cant just bear to hear the word- homosexual! Your posting is nothing more than a personal opinion and generalization!

Men are more acceptable of gay females because 1) they like to watch -- it's a guy thing and 2) they can fantasize that they can walk into the middle of it, and both women would accept him into their lovemaking. (Which is sooo far from the truth). Men are more threatened by gay men, and for some infuriating reason, everybody seems to think it's okay to mock or laugh at transvestites. (which just burns me!)

Sexism on a couple different levels. There's the fetishization of lesbians (and transsexuals as well; somewhat). So, it's acceptable, but only in the context of it being for the purpose of turning ME (straight male patriarch) on. For whatever reason, heterosexuality is linked in society's mind as being related to gender expression, so you also have the fact that it's OK and expected for women to want to take on more "masculine" traits (those assigned as such by society) because "feminine" traits are the crappy ones to begin with.

Sexism is the only answer I can think of. For a woman to act "butch" or to simply be lesbian is always looked upon as "entertaining" or "sexually exciting" by straight men who don't know didly-squat about gay/lesbian issues, especially if they get to watch anything happening between two women. Also, a woman expressing homosexual inclinations is often taken as a woman emmulating men--again by people who don't know didly-squat about. For a man to be gay, straights who know nothing of homosexuality will always assume that he's abandoning his masculinity and thus emmulating women. It's okay for women to copy male behavior, because our society says that males are superior...so why wouldn't anyone copy their behavior? But, of course it wrong for a male to adopt female behavior, because this very same society says that women are inferior, and a man "acting faminine" is giving up his inherent humanity. Of course I don't agree with this, but it IS what I have seen.

Because two women together is a turn on to straight males---most of whom think they could change them into straight women.. Straight women have less competition so its alright with them. LOL Maybe because women are traditionally less visible to the public. Also straight women (most of them) don't feel threatened by gay women. Straight men(some of them) however do feel threatened by gay men. Then they have to bluster and proclaim their heterosexuality and beat some one up to prove it. Possibly too anal sex has something to do with non acceptance.

You mean "of" gay females? Because if you're saying gay females are more accepting of others then guys or trans-whatevers, I've run into lesbians who are really nasty, especially to guys.

because this is unfortunatly a male run society... men mostly think that two girls is hot....two men, aren't...and thaty think anyone whose a transvestite must be from another planet...that how society is, until there's more tolerance, they're wont be any accepetance
