i am a butch type lesbian, meaning i dress like a man. i am not comfortable with women's clothes, that's why.
it seems from where i come from, women who prefer our "type" just like the way we are. they are comfortable with how we carry ourselves, and how we treat them.

If some one looks a little boyish, does that mean that they have a penis? No matter what a woman looks like, she is still a woman. No stubble, no hairy chest, no big and clumsy hands, and best of all, no penis!!! People look they way they do because it's what they like and what they are comfortable in. The women who date them, date them because they feel loved and happy, not because it's like being with a man. I'm a pretty feminine woman, and I've dated all kinds of girls, from ultra fem to pretty damn butch. I go out with the women that I do because of the way I feel when I'm with them! Do you like your "feminine women" to use dildos on you? ME, myself being feminine, like.....women. So whats the deal with that? Can't we just stop with the picking on each other? If you honestly want an answer, then just ask. You don't have to be condescending about it. IE "isn't the whole reason to be with a woman, to be with a WOMAN?"

I'm not a lesbian, but I think one answer to the butch/femme attraction is simply that women who look more masculine probably don't look masculine at all, but society has taught us to call women without makup "mannish" or women who can field-strip AK-47s in ten seconds flat are "mannish." When really, it's probably an issue of self awareness, body awareness, and personal interest. Apparently masculine women are probably more interested in doing their thing regardless of what anyone else thinks of it. They know they're feminine, they realize it every time they go to the bathroom, so they don't have to advertize their feminimity. Conversely, more "feminine" women are probably more interested in presenting some aspect of themselves that they consider to be their "best attributes." Which isn't to say that feminine women are more artificial or anything, but they're definitely more stylized. The same goes for gay guys who look feminine. It's not becuase they want to be feminie, but like fem lesbians (or fem straight women for that matter) they feel the need to do the human thing and put decorations on things. It's just the way that things are, and maybe our definitions of butch/fem are the things that need to change in order for us to see that the insignificant differences between people are little more than arbitrary contrivances...not entirely useless, but not always appropriate.

I'm a straight, married- extrafeminine, woman; but I have to admit, I find some masculine "butch" women very attractive. I can understand why other lesbians would be attracted to them. They are "handsome and strong" and "soft" at the same time. I love that they dress like they feel. I wish they were more open to friendships with straight women so I could get to know them better. I find that lesbians prefer the company of their own. I find the whole thing fascinating that they are so brave to do what they want to do with their lives. Very brave indeed.

But, my dear that is your taste. Don;t think all is about being feminine. Why does everything come down to looks??? Did you not think for one minute that behind those girlie look lies a real ***** ? Looks have not done anything for me and I am so into the
compassionate, caring and giving type of fem, no matter the looks.

Different strokes 4 different folks...you know the saying...it's just human nature.Although,I tend to lean on your side-as a straight dude-I love to see a femme with another...it's the most attractive situation one can perceive-in my not so humble opinion!
Also, some females may be attracted to a manly type female because they want both of both worlds-only,they want more of the female aspects-a way in which something can be viewed by the mind...with a taste of "more than meets the eye"...........

ROFL There IS NO Leviticus 3:19 you idiot.
As a gay male I assume the reason that some Lesbians look masculine is because they feel COMFORTABLE that way and if they do then more power to them. As the saying goes "it takes all kinds" You go girls!!!

Good question, but like a few others have said, it comes down to what you like.
I am not ultra femme, but nowhere near butch.
I don't think my sexuality has to be represented in how I look or what I wear, nor does my partners.
That being said, it is hard for a femme (me) to find another one (femme) who isn't looking for a butch.

Some women like big burly hairy men, some like boyish men. Same thing for heaven's sake. Just because you aren't into it doesn't mean no one else is. They are still women, still soft, still have the attitudes of women. There is a wide spectrum of women out there, you are just one end of it.
