Horses will not run any faster if they eat oranges.

The only portion of an orange that is toxic to horses is the peel. I wouldn't say it is all that healthy for a horse to eat oranges in terms of nutritional requirements, but I did read that squatters and Indians fed their horses oranges when other food sources weren't available.

If you have a horse that has an affinity for oranges, then as long as they are peeled, cut into smaller pieces, and fed in moderation the horse will be fine.

If your giving a horse an additive, the answer is no. The citrus can easily compromise any chemical, medication, etc.

Stick with giving horses the recommended feed. Have a blood test done on the horse at least once every two years to determine if his blood and body composition is capable of performing the tasks required of the horse.

A carrot, an apple....but an orange! Check with your equine veterinarian.

no it wont make them run faster. why would it??/ think. is there anything in an orane that would make anything run faster?? sure it has vitamin C which is claimed to boost the immune system, but that dose not make a horse run faster. it is not unhealthy to feed a horse oranges, but with everything, do not feed in excess. be reasonable, and use it as a treat, and if you give it too much, it wont be a treat anyumore...
