it may, it may not. The hymen is a layer of tissue, just like the tissue around the opening of your vagina that partially 'hides' the vaginal opening. You may or may not have one, most females do. (The hymen is named after the Greek God Hymenaeus -- the God of marriage and weddings, FYI.) Many girls and teens tear their hymen while participating in sports like bicycling, horseback riding, gymnastics or inserting tampons, or while masturbating. A girl may not even know this has occurred, since there may be little or no blood or pain involved when this happens. Some hymens are elastic enough to permit a penis to enter without tearing, or they tear only partially, and there is NO bleeding at all. When adequately lubricated the vagina is fairly 'flexible' and will stretch without discomfort for most women. Sometimes, a woman has sex for years with no real 'tearing' at all, only stretching of the hymen and then at another time the same woman might tear from 'rough sex' or sex with a different partner with a larger penis. Remnants of the hymen are usually still present until a woman delivers a baby vaginally. Sure, see what your vagina looks like with a mirror, it's your body, you should not be afraid of it . Some young women seem to obsess over what is 'normal'. So, put away the mirror after you know what is normal for you. don’t obsess over what it is 'supposed to' look like. All of our faces look different and none of our vaginas look exactly the same either. I felt pain when I was sexually with my first partner, and my second, and my third. it was not until I was in my early 20s when I felt less to no pain. but when you do decide that it is time for you to have your first experience the secret is a lot of lubrication and slow and gentil.

If you had perforated your hymen (caused it to become "un-intact) playing sports, you would have known it at the time .... and remembered it today. I don't know of any sports that would completely de-hymenize a woman. So, even if some rigorous sport pushed back your hymen or somehow made it smaller, first-time intercourse may be somewhat painful, and you may have some discharge of blood afterward. If the pain continues after the first three or four times you have intercourse, definitely seek a knowledgeable, caring physician. You may still have remnants of your hymen that might cause you discomfort for a loooong time to come.Good luck.

It is very common these days for a woman's Hymen to be broken at a very early age. If you have always been very active it is likely that your hymen has already broken. Though this will reduce the pain some sex the first few times is still stretching tight skin and could be painful, however some people experience no pain at all. You just have to hope your one of the lucky ones.

Actually, if you do enough research, or even just a little, you will find out that the percentage of women whose hymens are intact now, versus 10, 15, 20, 30 years ago has dropped rapidly. The reason...some say genetics, but also because we are more active. I remember losing my virginity, I don't remember the hymen breaking, but I remember it being more like pressure that pain...like when one goes for a pap smear and the cervix is swabbed for a culture. When you do decide to have sex, PLEASE use protection!!!! Please be sure it is what you want, remember that you are first and foremost...a wonderful, beautiful, and awesome woman that should be appreciated, and please, please, please, always remember to love yourself first!

It's very likely that it's torn, most girls who are really active tear it because it's so thin, but their still virgins. Yes, sex will probably hurt a little the first time because the vagina is not used to penetration. It is not that painful though, more like uncomfortable. As you have sex more often the vagina become more elactic and it stops being uncomfortable.

Whether or not it remains intact depends on the intensity or
rigorousness of the sport. Yes, it will always hurt just a little,
but my understanding is it's "pleasurable pain" -if that makes sense. And good for you for being one.

I was athletic as a girl and had no pain the first time I had intercourse. Everyone is different, so it's hard to say if the same would be true for you. Don't worry about it. Nobody enjoys the first time much anyway.

YES IT WOULD; UNTIL IT IS PENETRATED BY THE MALE, IT WILL REMAIN INTACT. IT WILL BE PAINFUL THE FIRST TIME, HOWEVER, IF YOU ARE YOUNG; WAIT, PLEASE; YOU DONT WANT TO BE THE ONE THAT GETS PREGNANT AND MISSES OUT ON LIFE BECAUSE YOU ARE RAISING A BABY. KIDS THINK THAT THEY ARE INVINCIBLE, BUT YOU ARE NOT; THERE ARE STILL CANCERS, DISEASES, AND EVERY THING ELSE OUT THERE; AIDS, HERPES, ETC. THAT HAS NO FAVORITE AGE THAT IT PICKS; IT GOES FOR ANYONE; SO THINK ABOUT WHAT YOU ARE DOING!
